Just had it half an hour ago. Have to say this roll-out is incredibly efficient.

carrythecan · 19/12/2021 09:56

@Parker231

Booked the booster and had it as soon as I could as has everyone I know. Why on earth wouldn’t you?
Because there is a risk involved in taking any vaccine and many younger and/or healthy people with very low risk from serious illness from Covid are weighing that risk up. While I believe that people over 70 and those who are vulnerable to Covid are better off being vaccinated and getting their booster, I can see why anyone else would question it. Especially those millions and millions of people who have had Covid and recovered. There is very strong evidence that recovery from Covid provides better immunity than the vaccines.

I actually think it is completely immoral to spend billions and divert resources to vaccinate people unnecessarily when we have a huge crisis looming with regards to people with cancer, heart disease etc etc.

carrythecan · 19/12/2021 09:57

@Hibiscusroses

Get the booster. I had it a few weeks ago. Currently have covid, but it's like a very heavy cold. I'm attributing this to the fact that I've had all my jabs and boosters. Thank god we live in a country where this is available to us.
Where is the evidence that your symptoms are mild due to the vaccinations? Plenty of unvaccinated people have very mild symptoms too.
Yutes · 19/12/2021 09:58

I don’t think im getting the booster.

It went from Dec 2020 - those TTC should avoid the vaccine to
Jan 2021 - those TTC should definitely get the vaccine NOW
I dutifully went and got the vaccine and I also lost a baby in that time (I’m not insinuating it was the vaccine at all)
But I have worked throughout, followed all the rules, and I have felt fine.
So I don’t think I’m getting the booster because I don’t want to put TTC into jeopardy again.

carrythecan · 19/12/2021 09:59

@hipbippbop

No.

I'm a critical care nurse. 90% on my unit unvaccinated. 10% haven't had their booster.

That's very unlucky as all the stats show that the vaccinated in critical care outnumber the unvaccinated.
Itsnearlyxmas · 19/12/2021 09:59

I am very reluctant to have my booster. I don't trust a word anyone in government says and won't just follow sheeplike to have yet another vaccine put in my system. I did have my first 2 after a lot of deliberation and am now thinking i shouldn't have bothered. Jabbed people still get covid and still pass it on. The only reason deaths are lower is because the weakest in our society have already been killed off and covid blamed even when it was something else. And don't even start me on the sodding masks.

NotTerfNorCis · 19/12/2021 10:02

the weakest in our society have already been killed off

A lot of people wouldn't have caught it last year because of lockdown. There's still an enormous amount of vulnerable people out there.

OopsadayZ · 19/12/2021 10:03

Super glad I had my booster 2 weeks ago.

Teen DC have tested positive. And I'm not isolating DC in their own home over Christmas.

endingintiers · 19/12/2021 10:04

No! Boosters were being mooted even in Spring, I made a joke to the vaccinator when I had my second jab (in April) that I'd see him in Winter - and here we are! Flu needs a regular jab to protect against current variants and I think Covid will be the same.

GingerbreadandJellytots · 19/12/2021 10:05

Ill at the moment, waiting on PCR. If I don't have covid already 🙄 I'll be getting the booster ASAP 👍

Dacquoise · 19/12/2021 10:06

My DP and I currently have covid so that's an interesting point. I am very grateful that I'm double jabbed because this thing is really unpleasant and I hate to think what a full dose of covid would feel like. My DP had his booster a couple of days before his symptoms kicked in and, although it obviously hadn't done its job yet, he is recovering quicker and this mornings lateral flow is clear I will take advice as to whether I now need a booster which is booked for January but my advice to others is to get the booster. We have both felt very unwell the last few days. Is it worth it for the sake of an additional jab?

antisocialsocialclub · 19/12/2021 10:06

I’ll get it, although I’m not happy about it. I feel we were sold the idea of vaccine = freedom and now I’m coming to the realisation that 1. We aren’t anymore free than the people who didn’t vaccinate and 2. I can see us having a booster or vaccine now for every single variant that comes out.

TeacherMa · 19/12/2021 10:10

Going to get mine in a few hours! Have to say, despite me constantly whinging about the government, good on them for rolling out weekend and evening clinics to meet their end of December booster goal. Hope they're paying the staff well for taking on the extra shifts and secondments!

colouringindoors · 19/12/2021 10:12

No. My sister and her OH, were two days off their booster when they tested positive. Both very ill, sis now in hospital.

Get the booster.

I've been to two centres. One was a walk in on Sunday for myself, another a booked appointment at a hospital to support a friend. The staff were so relentlessly cheerful despite the absolute masses going through!
colouringindoors · 19/12/2021 10:14

the weakest in our society have already been killed off

WTF?!

No. They've in the main been shielding/self-isolating for the last two years. Many CEV like my DM.

Tulipomania · 19/12/2021 10:16

No.

Family of 4. 3 of us have had booster already and youngest (20) gets his today.

We have elderly relatives and don't want to fuck up Xmas.

Pensieve · 19/12/2021 10:18

Yet again a thread on MN with masses of misinformation about vaccines. People complain about red top papers and FB but what some people put on here is every bit as bad.

Most people should be getting the booster and be looking at credible scientific sources for their information and answers to questions.

Are you wilfully disregarding the scientific evidence?

Booster provides 75 to 80 % protection against Omicron.

Tulipomania · 19/12/2021 10:20

Also have an unvaccinated friend who is very ill at the moment with Covid.

SenseSphere · 19/12/2021 10:20

I don’t feel the same, no. As soon as I was able to book an appointment, I did so.

No side effects from the booster at all.

I’m glad my relatives have all had it too, especially the older ones.

gogohm · 19/12/2021 10:22

We've all had ours. Better to be more protected

ViceLikeBlip · 19/12/2021 10:22

I had my booster a couple of days ago, but I felt rushed into it, and I only really did it because I'm worried about what rules might be brought in next year regarding anyone who's not "fully vaccinated".

I was very happy to have my first two. I've done this booster, but I felt a bit bullied into it. I don't think I'll have any more if/when they come out (unless the situation changes drastically I guess). I'm feeling a bit like Pfizer cash cow at the moment.

DameCelia · 19/12/2021 10:25

Of course not.
