No explanation needed. Just a yes or no.

For me it's a hard NO.

OP posts:
Kshhuxnxk · 19/12/2021 12:13

No however I'll continue to wear a face covering because we never stopped in Scotland.

I won't adhere to any restrictions on who comes to my house but I will have everyone lft beforehand. Just like we did last night.

I won't ahdere to any travel restrictions. I'll fill with fuel in my hometown, I'll take a flask and sandwiches and will pee outside in whichever remote place I'm going to take my dogs to. I'll pick up the dog poo, bag it and tie it to my towbar and put it in my wheelie bin.

I won't work from home as it's too depressing and the £6 a week nowhere near covers my heating.

LittleBabyCheeses · 19/12/2021 12:14

It’ only 2 weeks

3 weeks to flatten the curve…

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2021 12:16

When push comes to shove I expect most people will stick to the rules, as they have in the past

Keep believing that if it makes you feel better 🤷‍♀️

No

When push comes to shove I expect most people will stick to the rules, as they have in the past... I take many of these posts with a generous pinch of salt

I doubt people will stick to the rules this time. There was good reason before that people stuck to the rules in the initial crises. They believed in it. They thought they were making a difference. And back then they were. They've had enough now. Too long, too many lies, too much misinformation. The recent covid marches across the world demonstrated that. These were not small numbers. The shift in mindset has happened.

No. I’ve always thought that banning people from seeing their families is a gross overreach of state power. Many other countries have never done this because it’s unconstitutional. Given the state of the nation’s mental health I now think that it would be outright dangerous. It isn’t selfish to see your family and friends - it fulfils a fundamental human need and criminalising it should never be normalised.

This!

@Swifey40

Absolutely YES!!! And you lot are all idiots who have said no! I have three friends, Mt age, early 40's all double vaccinated and 1 triple, fit and healthy, and one was in hospital for over two weeks on a ventilator, whilst the other two have had terrible side effects and can't look after their dependants. Just have a think about what I that were you??????
Oh stop with the hysteria. We lost 2 great grandparents in January who spent their last Christmas on this Earth ALONE. If you think for one minute I'm going to put random strangers over much loved family for one more second, you can think again.

My dad died of complications of flu. As did my grandad. Neither were elderly. I didn't see anyone baying for lockdowns and mask wearing for flu season - an illness that's taken hundreds of millions over the years and will continue to do so. As will covid. That's just a fact of life now, as is any illness.

julieca · 19/12/2021 12:29

So the circuit breaker is only dont mix at home and table service?
If that's all it is it will make little difference. Those who would comply are already being very careful and many wont comply. And lots of hospitality wont be able to recruit enough staff to do only table service, so they will largely ignore it.
So nothing will change for most people.

OrangeBananaFish · 19/12/2021 12:32

No fuck that shit.

My mental health is very important to me and its slipping away from me again. Really don't fancy the suicidal thoughts again (they're coming, I can feel them), this time they may get worse as they seem to develop further each time as the growing supply of sleeping pills shows.

Oh and 2 weeks my arse. As if its only 2 weeks. Pull the other one.

beaverdiego · 19/12/2021 12:36

Yes.

TinselTitsAndGlitteryBits · 19/12/2021 12:37

Nope. I won't deliberately go out of my way to 'disobey' but I won't be preventing myself from doing things either.

My poor father can't stick to the rules.
He's a London black taxi driver. There's no financial support in place, so he drives around the very empty streets of London hoping to earn some money to pay his bills.

It's an absolute joke of a system.

Blubells · 19/12/2021 12:38

Is this the Government gauging our responses before making a decision Hmm?

99victoria · 19/12/2021 12:39

My (adult) kids and I have already had the conversation about christmas day. We are getting together at our house regardless of what the restrictions are. We missed out last year because my son and daughter-in-law were abroad and couldn't get home at the last minute. Nothing (short of actually being ill with covid itself) will stop us getting together this year.

gogohm · 19/12/2021 12:39

No, not until after Boxing Day at least. We are all triple jabbed

Yep - agree with this.

Also, remember the last lockdown, which was Jan-May 2021? Many people weren't yet fully vaccinated by the time that lockdown ended, let alone when it began. The situation is totally different now. People aren't fearful any more, because if they've got any sense at all they're fully or triple vaccinated. This is as good as it's going to get folks. Covid is here to stay. There will always be new variants. The best we can hope for is to keep up with our vaccinations and crack on with living our lives.

And you keep telling yourself otherwise if you find it comforting to do so!

steppemum · 19/12/2021 12:42

no if it effects Christmas.

probably mostly yes for the rest. But I will be asking for dd2 to be allowed in to school as a vulnerable child (mental health)

but I'm only doing it for the NHS, I was in hospital last week and saw how overstretched they were

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2021 12:43

And when it inevitably goes over the two weeks, what then?

herecomesthsun · 19/12/2021 12:46

If they do a 2 week lockdown and it looks as though the problem is containable, they could then lift restrictions.

If they do a 2 week lockdown and there is still a significant problem, then it will look as though the lockdown was a good idea.

it does look as though there is an issue with mass infections especially in London, where there is a major incident. So it's sensible to consider the most appropriate measures. I don't think they#ll go for a lockdown lightly.
