No explanation needed. Just a yes or no.

For me it's a hard NO.
@bumbleymummy - have you tried to actually book a slot? It may be allowed but it's far from easy.
I think you meant this for Zaferana

@LittleBabyCheeses

I complied with lockdown 1 to ‘save the NHS’. I complied with lockdown 2 to ‘save the NHS’. In the meantime, the government (whose responsibility it is to ensure that we have a functioning NHS) have done absolutely nothing to ‘save the NHS’. Us staying at home every time the NHS comes under pressure just lets the government off the hook… it means they don’t have to actually do anything to ensure we have a functioning NHS that is fit for purpose. Some people may be willing to do this indefinitely, that’s up to them.
Agree!
Delatron · 19/12/2021 11:12

@herecomesthsun I’m fully aware this is happening, no ignoring here. I have Covid. Cases will peak then fall. And yes it will be awful. But pushing this in to February won’t make it any better! Plus boosters will be wearing off for the vulnerable.

Delatron · 19/12/2021 11:13

@VikingOnTheFridge I was going to suggest just that! Let’s all stay in our houses, shut our eyes and will it away.

That is a week or so out of date, though it isn't impossible that there'll be some sort of action.

BlackCatz · 19/12/2021 11:14

You will have blood on your hands

Gosh, I haven't seen this old chestnut since 2020!

I think the issue is going to be the "flattening the curve again", not to overwhelm the intensive care beds.

I'm not particularly wanting lockdown but I am being really careful anyway and will follow any rules.

We also have covid in the house right now, though no one currently very ill with it.

This

The solution lies in proper funding of NHS, not in frightening us to live out our lives in isolation. The number of "worried well" young people is staggering.

oops that link was from last year.

LittleBabyCheeses · 19/12/2021 11:18

@vera99

oops that link was from last year.
Of course it was. There has been no talk of ‘tiers’ so far this winter.
Enko · 19/12/2021 11:20

Yes

Overthebow · 19/12/2021 11:20

No, followed all the others but not this time.

rhowton · 19/12/2021 11:20

No. I will do as much as they allow me to do. If they close restaurants, I will have friends over. If they close soft play and ballet, I will invite children's friends over or go to theirs. I will not let them tell me what to do any longer.

bumbleymummy · 19/12/2021 11:22

@herecomesthsun according to SA data, omicron is ‘flattening the curve’ for icu admissions anyway by being milder. Hospital stays are shorter and fewer patients need oxygen. SA didn’t increase any restrictions and have a much lower percentage of their population vaccinated, including vulnerable people, than we do.

MollyQueenOfSocks · 19/12/2021 11:23

No. Not missing my family this year after spending the year before last Christmas with other people's dying relatives because otherwise they would be alone.

How about next time, don't vote Tory.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 19/12/2021 11:23

No

TheCatShatInTheHat · 19/12/2021 11:24

Yes and no.
I won't stop seeing my boyfriend again. I will continue to see my mother as her carer. I won't be able to go out anyway, I'll continue seeing one friend and I won't stop my children doing whatever they want.

julieca · 19/12/2021 11:26

Yes

QOD · 19/12/2021 11:28

Yes … after xmas and other than seeing my daughter
So yes but with a bubble

User135644 · 19/12/2021 11:28

You can't go to nightclubs, football matches or theatres that aren't open (as an example). Therefore everyone will comply to different extents.

godmum56 · 19/12/2021 11:28

@paranoidnamechanger
"Wider use of vaccine passports is one option, and very elderly people who're seriously ill shouldn't be on ventilators."
Setting aside the nastiness of your comment, in general they aren't. Ventilation is risky and unpleasant and is only used when there is a chance that it will do more good than harm. It was one of the things shouted about during the first lockdown, that old and frail people were not being given a fair share of ITU resource and medics were "choosing who to save" That wan't true either

oftenbaffled · 19/12/2021 11:29

@QOD

Yes … after xmas and other than seeing my daughter So yes but with a bubble
And if it wasn't after christmas? And you couldn't bubble?
Swimminginmud · 19/12/2021 11:29

No

Kitfish · 19/12/2021 11:31
