No explanation needed. Just a yes or no.

For me it's a hard NO.

OP posts:
Dammitthisisshit · 19/12/2021 10:02

Yes. I start chemo next week so isolating anyway but am hoping that the nhs stays together enough to treat me.
Bring on the vaccine passports, bring on the partying restrictions. Bloody awful that they haven’t already.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 19/12/2021 10:03

Of course.

LittleBabyCheeses · 19/12/2021 10:03

@StellaGibson118

Yes as long as schools remain open. If they close them again I wont be following any further rules. Ive followed every single one from the start and I think schools closing again would be the final straw in my compliance.
If schools close again a group of us already have a plan in place to take it in turns to teach each other’s children… like a ‘cooperative’. Otherwise there’s a strong chance a lot of us will lose our jobs. It’s the only way we’ll be able to manage it.
Barney60 · 19/12/2021 10:06

YES.
Am shocked at how many are saying no.

zafferana · 19/12/2021 10:06

@userperuser

zafferana

Research the history of the term.

It means 'someone who refuses or declines something'.

And believe me, I could think of many worse things to call those who refuse to get vaccinated, because the elephant in the room that everyone, inc. the media, tiptoes around, is that THEY are the ones that will force us into another lockdown. Because they are the ones who overwhelmingly need to be admitted to hospital when they catch Covid, not those of us who are triple jabbed. So if this latest threat to lock us down again is to 'save the NHS', it's on them.

VikingOnTheFridge · 19/12/2021 10:07

@scooterbear

Those saying no-but if everything is shut how will you actually do the non compliance?
As well as the obvious point that stopping people from socialising in private houses is impossible, there were businesses operating illegally on the quiet in the last lockdown, and there was furlough then so fewer people with the incentive. Just within my small locality I was aware of illegally offered hairdressing, barbering, various beauty treatments, pop up bars in garages and a couple of discreet pop up lock ins.

I can see that people wouldn't necessarily be aware that businesses were operating illegally from private homes. I only know because of things I happened to hear about, and there's probably substantial variation by area. But how is it not incredibly clear that people can refuse to comply with laws about private mixing?

Tal45 · 19/12/2021 10:07

Yes because it'll only end up longer if we don't.

bumbleymummy · 19/12/2021 10:08

@zafferana we have a really high uptake of the vaccine, particularly in the most vulnerable groups that are most likely to end up in hospital. Fwiw a recent imperial report showed that protection from symptomatic infection from two doses has dropped to 0-20% so do you want to start making their lives ‘REALLY difficult and unpleasant’ until they have their third dose? Hmm

AlwaysAReader · 19/12/2021 10:08

Yes

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 19/12/2021 10:08

To those saying "no" - I don't think you'll have a lot of choice when the schools close for a few weeks!

Ilikecheeseontoast · 19/12/2021 10:09

No. I’ve complied all along but they can absolutely fuck off this time.

herecomesthsun · 19/12/2021 10:09

Re "refusenik: It originally meant someone refused permission to emigrate from Russia, often Jewish people wanting to go to Israel, supposedly under suspicion of being spies.

Everyone over the age of 18 has been able to get a third dose for several days now. And those most vulnerable through age or health, have been able to get one for weeks.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 19/12/2021 10:09

I’m not surprised
Downing Street parties
Barnard castle
Unvaccinated numpties causing bother
No wonder the majority: sensible, masked, vaccinated people who obeyed the lockdown last time have had enough

As I said above, a group of about 8 of us have agreed we’ll share homeschooling/childcare of all our children if that happens. It’s the only way we’ll all be able to survive and keep our jobs.
Theunamedcat · 19/12/2021 10:12

I'm vaccinated even though it's made me ill preparing for a booster despite it most likely making me more ill I mask up I sanitise I have had enough yes I know I will have "no choice" but it doesn't mean I have to like it and I will be open about my irritation

Myonlydesire · 19/12/2021 10:12

No

SpringheelJack · 19/12/2021 10:13

What do the ‘No’ sayers think should be done? Do you think we should let bodies pile up outside A&E?

Perhaps they could fucking fund it properly? We're being asked to make our own lives various degrees of hell to protect a service they have - and continue to - slice to the bone.

bumbleymummy · 19/12/2021 10:14

@zafferana you are wrong and the things you are saying are harmful. Stop pointing fingers and ‘othering’ people. That kind of behaviour never ends well.

Really? I'm pretty sure my house, those of lots of people I know and multiple local businesses stayed open illegally last time. Well, as did the schools for a lot of kids actually, but that's a separate point.

Why on earth are so many MNers unable to tell the difference between not being able to do everything and not being able to do anything?

Delatron · 19/12/2021 10:15

The no sayers probably think that shutting down the economy every time there’s a new variant may not be the best long term plan..

HelloMissus · 19/12/2021 10:15

No.
I accept that I may not be able to go to Tesco (oh the hardship) but I’ll certainly continue to see friends and family.
And I’ll be more than happy for my adult D.C. to have their partners and friends at our house.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 19/12/2021 10:16

No.

So? Just because they’ve been able to doesn’t mean that they should have to. Many have been recently infected with covid and may not want (or need) a third dose right now.
