No explanation needed. Just a yes or no.

For me it's a hard NO.

OP posts:

Yes

Get rid of lockdowns, give CEV proper financial and practical support to stay at home (along with household members) if they wish to. Cheaper than lockdowns and with the same effect, ie keeping the vulnerable out of hospital.

We can't start segregating sections of society like that, and it wouldn't work anyway.

RichTeaRichTea · 19/12/2021 07:07

Where’s that poster who keeps going on about echo chambers and tantrums? I hope they see this thread with so many people saying they would comply, they might find it reassuring.

Droite · 19/12/2021 07:08

Yes

DiscontentedWoman · 19/12/2021 07:09

No.

RichTeaRichTea · 19/12/2021 07:10

Things are a bit different for me this time round - I was on mat leave this time last year and was incredibly isolated and had crippling PND. I would continue to support the other women I know with PND in any way I could, including breaking rules if necessary.

CamQ · 19/12/2021 07:12

No.

Not unless they change their decision-making process.

This is why:

Why wouldn't it work? It's not segregation if the CEV have a genuine choice. It's assisting them to isolate if they want to.

And no OP I will not follow any more pointless, proven to be useless, rules made by people who have no intention of following them themselves.

Yes

crazycadetmum · 19/12/2021 07:16

No..not a chance!

ScarlettSunset · 19/12/2021 07:17

Mostly. But it depends what the rules are and how long they genuinely last. I have no intention of not seeing my partner this time round.

Yes (I can disagree with the government, yet still want to protect others)

It wouldn't work to protect the vulnerable if everyone else is around merrily spreading the virus, because they can't totally avoid all contacts given the need to shop etc. And you can't leave it to work on a voluntary basis if you want to keep the NHS functioning.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 19/12/2021 07:28

Yes.

reallynow1 · 19/12/2021 07:29

Yes, because I would like my mum to have her much needed heart surgery at some point soon. And if locking down helps towards that then absolutely.

And if the surgery continues to be delayed then I would like there to be staff available on her regular trips to a and e, or for the nurses who are on the ward when she is admitted to actually have time to help her.

Yes, because I have seen the stresses on nhs staff.

Am I looking forward to such measures...no.

DeadCertain · 19/12/2021 07:30

Yes; partly because of the job that I do and partly because I have this vain hope that the more we comply the less painful things will be (I know that this really is in vain given our experiences to date).

Madmog · 19/12/2021 07:32

Yes. Already scaling things back/meeting people outside, so won't make much difference.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/12/2021 07:32

I said if they wish to.

And we're segregated anyway, just currently without any support. Either that, or we're compelled to work in high risk jobs such as teaching or retail. Fine, if you want to carry on doing so - but nobody should be made to go to work knowing that it could kill them.

Why wouldn't it work? Vulnerable people are fat more likely to end up in hospital, and the point of lockdown is to reduce the pressure on the NHS.

Claudethecat · 19/12/2021 07:34

Why are there so many threads recently that seem designed to try to encourage people to throw caution to the wind if Omicron really does take hold?

Yes I will "comply" because I don't want to contribute to the spread of a virus that could: disrupt vital services and the NHS; kill people ; leave some with long covid.

QueefofSheena · 19/12/2021 07:34

Do those of you saying no not want doctors/nurses/teachers/delivery staff/shop workers etc. be available when you need them?

ShonkyWonkyDonkey · 19/12/2021 07:35

Yes, of course I will!
