Can I catch omicron from someone with negative LFT

Everyone seems to be using LFTs to show it's safe to socialise but am I right in thinking I could catch it from someone incubating it??

Definitely. Lots of stories out there of people getting it after social events where attendees all did LFTs beforehand - my work Xmas lunch on 9th Dec was one. Despite getting negative LFT on the morning of the lunch, one attendee tested positive on an LFT the next day (which was then confirmed by PCR). 5 of my colleagues who went tested positive a few days after.

Yes. I have Covid symptoms on a Sunday, took PCR on Monday, got positive PCR on Tuesday. On each of those days I had a negative LFT: it didn’t turn positive until the Wednesday.

Why's everyone relying on the LFTs then?!

Your chances are still significantly reduced if only in contact with people with negative LFTs. Something can be an imperfect measure but still an effective one.

Have a read about the Norway conference where loads of people caught omicron. Everyone had done a lft beforehand.

Yes. I did an LFT last Friday. No symptoms, had been nowhere apart from booster clinic last Thursday.

I infected everyone I so much as looked at that day...
