I had close contact with someone yesterday who has tested positive on a LTF today and is now awaiting PCR results. If the virus was transmitted to me yesterday how long would it take for me to be contagious, would it be pretty much instant?

Unsure if you would be contagious straight away but symptoms usually appear within 3-5 days according to our local schools health team.

From what i can gather looking at the Zoe data, Delta you show symptoms in 4/5 days, so probably contagious from day 2 or 3.

Omicron seems to be presenting with symptoms much quicker, so probably contagious within 24hrs.

It doesn’t mean you’ll catch it. My daughter has been a close contact quite a few times at school and hasn’t caught it. If however you did catch it, it can take up to two weeks to show. If it’s omicron it’s more likely to be a few days though. You’d be contagious a couple of days before symptoms (if you have any). For omicron I would say probably contagious pretty quickly given the short amount of time it takes for symptoms.

I have a sniffle, so hoping one of the kids has shared their cold, and its not covid >.
