Do you feel safe?

I have literally just been freed from my isolation - should I feel safer than ever? I know that there is not necessarily any protection from Omicron if I have just had Delta (which I assume I have). I am also tropes vaccinated. Would you feel safe enough to get back into society for a few days before it all shuts down again?!

Fuck yes. I can’t wait to get our again once my isolation is over.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 18/12/2021 15:08

I've always felt safe, on a personal level. Isolating is annoying but the thought of catching Covid doesn't scare me (had Delta 4 months ago).

DarknessAndLight · 18/12/2021 15:11

From Covid yes, from restrictions and loss of freedoms, no.

Sparkle275 · 18/12/2021 15:21

I came out of isolation last Sunday after having covid. I assume I also had the Delta variant because I've had no contact to say it's Omicron. I was out everyday last week doing the school run, finishing my Christmas shopping in lots of different shops. I'm double jabbed and have been following social distancing and wearing a mask but I'm still a bit worried about catching Omicron. However I'm not sure how likely it is to catch a different variant straight after having another. I don't feel completely safe but also feel we can't let this stop us from doing things we would usually want to do.

This.

I've never known such hysteria over being "safe". Do you feel safe when you walk down the stairs? Do you feel safe when you get in a car? I can't bear much more of this to be honest.

Mindymomo · 18/12/2021 15:30

You’ve got some immunity from having covid plus being triple jabbed, you are in a very good position should you catch covid again, better than those of us triple jabbed but that haven’t had covid yet.

SenseSphere · 18/12/2021 16:11

Yes, why not?

I’m just cracking on. I wear my mask and all that but just do what I need to do.

Walking out the house is never safe, for any number of reasons.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 18/12/2021 16:16

I have never understood what feeling safe means, so cant answer that question

But I'm doing what I would normally do, i'm about to go to a large Christmas event but as you aren't me it would be a little silly for me to tell you what to do.

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/12/2021 16:22

On my feed this is just above the thread on hating the word safe. Grin

You are as safe as anyone else OP, which is pretty fucking safe. Crack on.

Absolutely this!
SkankingMopoke · 18/12/2021 18:53

I'm currently positive for covid. I wasn't worried about it before I caught it, I'm not worried about it at the moment (I've had much worse colds), and come mid next week when I'm 'released', I'll be even less concerned. We shall be spending what is left of the school holidays frequenting soft plays, swimming pools and the like. The only thing that is worrying me at the moment is the potential for other people's hysteria to push us into another lockdown.
FWIW, the only time I have been concerned about covid was Feb-April/May 2020.

HariboMaroon · 18/12/2021 18:54

I get irrationally angry when someone tells me to “stay safe”

What.the.fuck 👀

KeepApart · 18/12/2021 18:56

You will literally never be 'safer' from covid OP.

By safe do you mean at risk of covid or at risk of infecting people? Or safe from covid

Do I feel safe from catching covid, no. Do I feel worried about catching covid? No. These are very different things.

littlepeas · 18/12/2021 18:57

I feel absolutely safe in terms of covid - 2x Pfizer and a dose of Covid in October. None of us were unwell.

I feel far more concerned about restrictions, lockdowns, etc.

Nellodee · 18/12/2021 18:58

I’ve had a double AstraZeneca and recent delta. I’ll feel much happier after I get my booster tomorrow at a walk in. At that point, I know I’ve done everything I can do, and there’s no point worrying.

For some reason, I feel a bit nervous for not having had my booster, as though I should have been more organised and got it sooner, since everyone else seems boosted already. Can’t think when I could realistically have done it, but it’s hanging over me like an essay I should have written a week ago.

littlepeas · 18/12/2021 18:58

I do know I could catch it again, but I find that I don't give a shit.

All of this.

SickAndTiredAgain · 18/12/2021 19:05

I have never felt personally unsafe from covid, that hasn’t changed.

Coconut49 · 22/12/2021 10:39

'I've never known such hysteria over being "safe". Do you feel safe when you walk down the stairs? Do you feel safe when you get in a car? I can't bear much more of this to be honest.'

I couldn't agree more. And if anyone says 'Stay Safe' to me one more time I will scream!

IcedPurple · 22/12/2021 11:44

I've always felt 'safe' in the sense that even if I get the virus, chances are very high that I'll have symptoms like a bad cold and will be better in a week or two. That's even more true now that I'm fully vaccinated.

What are you afraid would happen in the unlikely event that you caught the virus?

Silkieschickens · 22/12/2021 11:50

No but thats as have cancer and undergoing treatment and have to ensure I and ideally 2 secondary aged kids dont get covid or treatment gets cancelled, sometimes for a couple of months. I can isolate myself but kids are both in gcse year so have to go and we also need to get food etc though dh does that and dont think that is too high risk.

Moonface123 · 22/12/2021 11:59

I feel perfectly safe and always have done.
I trust in my own immune system, (yes l have had 2 vacs and one booster)
l have worked throughout in a busy supermarket,.life has just felt normal.
