Will furlough be implemented again?

I work in the services industry and there are no clients coming in. I am certain I will be let go after the new year if things don't change. I am not sure how I am going to survive if furlough is not implemented again. I also understand there is no money for more furlough but universal credit is not enough. Do you think is any chance that furlough will be implemented in some way?

I'm very sorry but I don't think it will.

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/12/2021 19:42

I don’t think so. Could you start looking for other work in the NY. warehouse or care work temporarily?

Sorry OP..

Oblomov21 · 20/12/2021 19:44

No. They can't afford it.

Northernlurker · 20/12/2021 19:47

No I'm afraid it won't. Can you look at the care industry? Lots of jobs there currently. Then return to your normal role when things get better, which they will.

BambinaJAS · 20/12/2021 19:48

They are negotiating this now.

Can they afford it? Yes.

But it will have to be off-set against spending somewhere else judging from HM Treasuries current views.

BurbageBrook · 20/12/2021 19:52

Unfortunately I don’t think so.

PartyPrawnRingGames · 20/12/2021 19:53

Well I think they might do something especially if they do actually lock down.

lonelydad2021 · 20/12/2021 20:23

Thanks for the replies. I thought so too. I am applying for other jobs. fingers crossed.

There is lots of rumour-mongering over a lockdown. I'm not sure how the Givernmenr can enforce that businesses or whole sectors must close without offering any sort of financial assistance.
Lots of MN seem to be hoping for a lockdown (presumably the ones in secure wfh jobs Confused)
