Dealing with "I'm not having the vaccine because my friend had it and said his dick fell off" and other stories..

Ok the dick falling off is an exaggeration but I'm just so tired of this. I now don't know anyone who isn't sceptical about the jab and my pleas fall on deaf ears because there's always some story of so and so "whose legs stopped working after his jab".

I'm just ranting really. Worried about loved ones.

Perhaps you should contact the various doctors who have reported various side effects and tell them that

Doctors should be reporting all possible side effects. Even the ones they suspect are not related to side effects.

No one’s saying vaccines have zero side effects. But for the vast vast vast vast majority the side effects are mild - certainly less problematic than the disease would be.

Pangolin44 · 18/12/2021 18:32

You don't have to deal with anything. Just accept that people have different views and leave it at that.

Why even get into it? You won't change anyone's mind if that's the course they have chosen.

Darkpheonix · 18/12/2021 18:33

My exh has been telling people that the jab killed my mum. I want to rip his head off. My mum died 15 days ago, we haven't even had the funeral. The last time he spoke to her he was vile to her. We have literally, just lost her and he is using her.

He hasn't supported his kids, through losing their nana. But his dad called my dad, to warn him of the rumours exh was spreading.

Dd who is 18, is devastated her dad's done that. And I want to rip his head for using my mum's death, to try and convince people he and his anti vax stance is correct.

My dad is furious. Exh dad is furious. Exh mum believes exh and is encouraging him to spread the truth.

By the end of this I can see exh parents splitting. Dd no longer wants anything to do with her dad. Ds, 10, won't go see him anymore.

Sick of fucking hearing people talk bollocks about all this.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mum and that your ex is using it for his own shitty agenda [flower]

Mmn I will be dead withing 2 years
My dds will be very have kids.
It has AIDS in it.
It sheds so being with a dirty vaccinated person is a big ask.

Northsoutheastwest76 · 18/12/2021 19:08

O and an 11 year old who died suddenly must have gad the vaccine or some other vaccine.

Riapia · 18/12/2021 19:16

Two of my friends have been hospitalised with Covid.
I haven’t heard of anyone hospitalised with side effects from the vaccine.
The ignorant can be educated,
The insane can be medicated,
Nothing can be done for the stupid.

Dealing with "I had it and am absolutely fine" stories...

Hazelnutbean · 18/12/2021 20:00

@gsaoej

Stop arguing with these people. We can all make our own free choices.

I’ve had 3 jabs (2 astrazenecas and one Moderna). My choice.

But more than 70 people have died as a result of having AstraZeneca.

Your choice is your business. Their choice is their business.

Given 150,000 or so have died from Covid, and there have been more vaccinations than infections (even including estimates of unconfirmed cases), so 70 vs 150,000... a bit of a no brainier!
XenoBitch · 18/12/2021 20:01

I think it is totally fair to worry about loved ones, but there are people who have had nasty side effects from the vaccine, and a very tiny number of people have died.
Vaccine injury is a real thing, and applies to all vaccines not just the Covid ones. It just seems that anyone suffering long term effects form the Covid one gets written off as making it up as some sort of agenda.
Anecdata I know, but several people on my FB where taken to hospital with side effects (mainly cardiac issues). Thankfully, it didn't escalate into thing major.
I just think it is unfair to try and brush side effects under the rug. And if someone has been close to someone who had had very major side effects, then it is no surprise it would make them hesitant.

flashbac · 18/12/2021 20:04

@Svara

You are being horribly dismissive of vaccine injuries. These are real people whose lives have been dramatically changed for the worse. Would you be so dismissive of someone whose health was damaged by Covid?
I think the whole vaccine injury thing has been blown out of proportion.
OP posts:
Darkpheonix · 18/12/2021 20:09

I think you can acknowledge that some people have had 'vaccine Injuries', a small amount have died AND also exercise some caution when people are telling you that it did xyz to a family member.

Exh was also one of the dickheads looking for 5g antenna to rip down for causing covid. Anyone listening to him is being g taken for a ride

He believes there's a chip in it that will kill us all within 2 years. The fact that a small amount of people have 'vaccine injuries' doesn't make that true.

TaraSiligel · 18/12/2021 20:11

My youngish, healthy Dad died from Covid earlier this year. A friend of the family died from Covid aged 30 a week ago. My mum's friend who is CEV will spend Xmas alone this year, as her idiot children are all anti-vaxxers.

I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of these morons spouting rubbish about the vaccines, Covid, Bill Gates, flat earth, whatever. There is a definite correlation between intelligence and whether or not a person is vaccinated. Darwin must be looking down at this and laughing his head off.

TaraSiligel · 18/12/2021 20:13

And yes, there have always a small number of people who react to vaccines. A friend of mine died after a nasty (and completely unexpected) reaction to anti-malaria medication.

You just need to be aware of possible side effects and seek medical attention if needed.

Unfortunately some of these people will discover the hard way just how stupid they are.

There's no point engaging with them. Just stay clear.

Observation.
TaraSiligel · 18/12/2021 20:15

@XenoBitch there have been a few studies. I suggest you Google it.

Santahatesbraisedcabbage · 18/12/2021 20:17

Ds 13 took some persuading as he had been told it turns you into a zombie..

Pegasussnail · 18/12/2021 20:18

I work with a headstrong antivaxxer who gets angry when she hears anyone is off with covid 'for a minor cold' Is how she puts it.
Anyway. I'm for my booster tomorrow so I ignore and smile.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/12/2021 20:21

I work with a nurse who says when 5G is turned on we'll all die. Quite evangelical about it too.

Best way. Just feel for the medics who have to pick up the peices

NMC2022 · 18/12/2021 22:17

Someone I know did die, probably from a side effect from having the vaccine BUT it's so rare that yes I still had mine
Her death got turned into a "don't have the vaccine" and her family were pleading with people still to take it because she wouldn't have wanted her death taken over by anti vax

XenoBitch · 18/12/2021 22:19

You made the claim, therefore the burden of proof is on you.

Vaccination is positively correlated with education level I believe, not specifically IQ or cognitive scores that measure intelligence

Will be tied to critical thinking, but also more complex things like socioeconomic status & deprivation

In a large US study specifically looking at the coronavirus vaccines, the strongest predictor was whether someone had repoted voting for Biden versus Trump
