My 18 year old is due to arrive on the 23rd of December.

Dh and I are struggling to find out how to deal with getting the pcr test sent off over the Bank Holidays any suggestions a courier is over £100

Have you looked at Randox, they send the test to home address and then you post it in a drop off box where they collect. Order it now and it should be with you by the 23rd.

The nearest drop of if 38 miles away in London

Have you checked Collinson in the terminal ? Can you book a test to take 24th ( not a postal one) so he gets the results before Christmas day ? We have the same issue as arrive in the uk on the 23rd but I've booked to test early on the 24th . It's a minefield and very stressful

Try and find a drive in clinic don't do postal ..Its hit and miss if you get it back in time . I would do the drop off or drive to a drive through, or its isolation we did 4 days thanks to Royal mail and we are very rural though

Have you googled "Travel PCR my town"? We found a random place in the industrial estate that has just got DH into China. Would never have known it was there.
Anywhere with appointments between Stansted and home?
Are boots still doing them?

Any slots left for drive through tests? Tbh it’s quite late now, the need for test was announced she’s ago so most people would have booked a week or two ago, you may struggle to get test done and back in time to come out of isolation for the Christmas period.

We have had to cancel our Christmas travel plans to come to the UK, but while it was still a possibility we just google "rapid result PCR test" for our planned arrival location and there were loads of options. As people have said above, you can just order tests which can be delivered to your houe or you can book at a location convenient to you.

Whatever you end up doing, your DC will need to isolate until they have received a negative result.

I would try and book an in-person test - drive through or walk in - on either the 23rd or early on the 24th. Nearby towns, cities, airports… Someone somewhere should have availability.
