Just wanted to note that neither I nor my source was making it up.

No share token, can't read it

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. You and your “source” don’t disprove this theory. You’re the senior civil servant on £40k, right?

SparrowNest · 18/12/2021 09:28

@RobinPenguins

No. Someone close to me heard from someone in government they’re in contact with for separate reasons that they were planning for a lockdown beginning on the 27th, so I passed it on to try and allow others to mentally prepare.

I don’t generally have any special insight but I learned this specific thing from someone placed to know.

Someone working in government that should say, not a minister!

Such an amazing, unexpected insight. We bow down in gratitude to your source, Deep Cough.

Civil servants have all kinds of plans just in case, doesn't mean they will happen.

Omicrone · 18/12/2021 09:33

Anyone who says 'my source' (or alternatively 'my contact') is automatically a wanker in my book Grin

SparrowNest · 18/12/2021 09:37

@Omicrone I used to work in media (maybe also a rock solid indicator of wankerdom tbf)

Seems plausible but stupid. Let people get out and about freely for a week and then all get together with their grandfathers round a dinner table, then lock them down for two weeks.

SparrowNest · 18/12/2021 09:44

@gogohm yeah, I was just told this was the expected course of action rather than one plan among many. I was pretty gutted because getting out and about is keeping me sane with a toddler and newborn, so I figured maybe it would be helpful to tell other parents and allow them to prepare. Perhaps it was a futile attempt to feel in control of something when the broader situation makes me feel so helpless.

It doesn’t matter what people on here think I guess, I just wanted to show that I wasn’t trolling or scaremongering for fun.

@PassingByAndThoughtIdDropIn I’m assuming that Johnson thinks being responsible for “ruining Christmas” would destroy him politically.
