Fuck fuck fuck how often do positive lfts result in a negative pcr?

Being thoughtful and following the guidelines by testing earlier before going to see a friend (I'm symptomless) and it's bloody positive. 😭😭

Pcr done and isolating but what's the chances of it being negative? Please please tell me there is a chance it was wrong😭 I'm double jabbed but not had my booster yet 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Was it flowflex? I've had four false positives on them, I think there's an issue with them. How dark were the lines? Got everything crossed for you

NeedAHoliday2021 · 17/12/2021 21:01

They’re quite unusual. False negatives are more normal to see. We did two each time we’ve had positives but they’ve all resulted in pcr positive. Dh and Dd currently positive and I’m waiting to start feeling ill… probably Christmas bloody day Angry
We’ve been so careful but Dd caught it in primary school. 2nd Christmas isolating as last Christmas Dd1 was a contact at school.

It wasn't floflex it was a nose and throat swab one. I work in retail so I'm resigned to having caught it in work now. I had so much planned with the kids and family over the Christmas period! Just hoping none of the kids get it now 🤞🏻

Hope you’re okOP. There’ll be hundreds of thousands in the same position as you over the next few days, if that’s any consolation…..

If flowflex tests, I've had multiple false faint positives.

mamatro · 17/12/2021 23:17

Old style LFT highly likely positive sorry 😞 flowflex I wouldn't trust!! I've been positive on these since they came out!! Always followed up by a negative PCR!

fuckfuckfuck2021 · 20/12/2021 09:19

Thursdays morning I had negative LFT
Friday morning positive LFT
Had PCR Friday at 4pm and had a negative result at 6am this morning.
I feel okay with a slight cough so I'm taking it the Pcr is correct and I'm negative

Gingerbreadhoose · 20/12/2021 09:35

I've only ever glad packs of flow flex and have always tested negative on them (and I've been doing them three times a week for months). I really think people are kidding themselves blaming tests for false positives.

ScarlettDarling · 20/12/2021 09:38

My son has had 2 false positives from the old style lfts. My husband has Covid so we were convinced my son’s lfts were correct but subsequent pcrs said he’s negative. We’ve chucked out that box of tests as we think they were a dodgy batch!

Crapslattern · 20/12/2021 09:40

My mate tested positive on PCR. Carried on taking LFTs while waiting for PCR results. All negative, even 48 hours after PCR was taken.

Gingerbreadhoose · 20/12/2021 09:42

You need a high viral load to test positive on an LFT (asymptomatic cases can have viral loads as well as symptomatic ones). PCRs are much more sensitive and will pick up the virus even if you are no longer contagious or have a low viral load.

This is what I thought but I am testing positive on LFT and negative on PCR test
