Pfizer trial dose ineffective in 2 - 5 year-olds?

The NY Times are reporting today that a low-dose trial isn’t producing a good enough immune response in younger children between 2 - 5, but between 6 months and 2 yrs responding comparable to adults. Does anyone know why this might be? Three years seems like a very specific time frame to produce no response??

(DD is 3.5 so not going to lie I’m feeling pretty invested)

It may be the dosage, but Pfizer says they're going to test a three dose series for that age cohort.
