I am deeply confused about what is going on!
DS (7) came home from school on Wednesday with a tummy ache, and by bedtime felt a bit hot. The next morning, yesterday, he had a sore throat and minor cough, and I also had a sore throat.
We did lateral flow tests and while mine was negative, his was instantly positive. We all went for PCRs.
Since then, he is fine and I still have a minor sore throat and have had a chesty cough since about lunchtime yesterday. His PCR has come back positive, mine and DH's are both negative.
I thought that maybe I just wasn't far enough along yesterday for it to show, but I've just done another lateral flow after coughing all day (moderately, not horrendous, and feeling under the weather). 2 of them, both negative
I had symptoms when the first PCR was done, do I need to go for another one? Can being vaccinated mask the virus in LFTs?
Just trying to decide if its even worth the resources when we have to isolate until Boxing Day for DS (Christmas Day is his Day 10). But we had relatives coming over on Boxing Day which, if I was positive, would be my Day 10.
I'm just finding it hard to believe it's not what I have, has anyone had similar experience and ended up with a positive PCR after negative lateral flows and days of symptoms with covid in the house?
Ahrg! Advice please
