Mixed picture, from the posts on that thread

Be aware that there is a Tube strike, so people will be on buses instead

AliceWo · 17/12/2021 17:54

I was in Soho today - busy tube, packed restaurant. Not sure about other areas.

LadyCluck · 17/12/2021 17:56

No - my brother is a black cab driver and he says it’s fairly quiet.

NuffSaidSam · 17/12/2021 17:56

It's been absolutely rammed whenever I've been in recently.

NuffSaidSam · 17/12/2021 17:57

I haven't been in the last week or so though so maybe quieter now it's getting closer to Christmas/shows are closing etc.

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 18:02

There's a Tube strike and a demonstration so plan carefully if you go.

I was around the City early this week - St Pauls, Bank - general chat was that bars and restaurants would close.

If you were going to Hampstead or that type of place, different again.

Plexie · 17/12/2021 18:06

Yes it's busy. On my way home from the West End right now. I crossed Oxford Street (didn't linger) and the pavements were as busy as I would expect in a normal year. Don't know about the shops though.

I stuck to quieter areas and streets, walked everywhere, and didn't go into restaurants or bars. A lot of window shopping in the pretty areas, went in a few small shops, and enjoyed the lights. London is looking very lovely, especially after dark!

BellaChagall · 17/12/2021 18:08

I'm in London. It's been packed, but it's definitely been quieter in the last few days. My rush hour tube was quiet today (but only about 60% wearing masks). It may be different at the weekend though.

actiongirl1978 · 17/12/2021 18:16

I was there last Friday and it was Heaving just as I like it. Had a great day out and came home with omicron Grin

I hope if you do go you have fun.

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 18:20

"Had a great day out and came home with omicron"

Don't think you're special...Omicron went home with loads of people that night, he has no shame 😂

Hope you feel better asap.

Poetrypatty · 17/12/2021 18:22

Covent Garden is quiet

Iceskatequeen · 17/12/2021 18:51

@actiongirl1978 oh no, how are you holding up with it?

That's my worry, Dan we really avoid catching it there.

I got back yesterday. It was getting quieter and quieter and lots of pubs and restaurants are considering closing this weekend, apparently. I also feel like shit and have a hacking cough... (took a PCR today and hoping it's a cold)

mrshoho · 17/12/2021 19:01

Much quieter in the last few days. Don't know about the weekend.

actiongirl1978 · 17/12/2021 19:03

@Iceskatequeen I'm fine thanks, had a sneezy cold and it's now just a cough.

I've had delta in the last four months and triple vax, but I think I am just prone to things like this. I was in a crowded pub, so it was a risk I was prepared to take 🤷🏼‍♀️

But I wouldn't have changed going, I met a good friend, had a lovely lunch and drinks and it lifted my sprits. I'm out of isolation for the 23rd so quite happy I can get any last minute hits.

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 20:01

OP are you deciding in the morning?

Iceskatequeen · 17/12/2021 20:07

Glad you're ok. Can't believe you've had it twice in such a short space of time, just goes to show.

Yes we will have to decide tomorrow.

We were really just going for the lights, sightseeing, a nice meal on the evening.

I've been to my own local town today which was fairly busy but nowhere near usual for this time of year.

I said in the other thread that lots of my neighbours have gone "home" early, plus wfh, plus people wanting to avoid catching stuff for the big day. I expect it to be very quiet this weekend.

Grin You made me spit my G&T out @DaisyNGO.
DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 21:00

Lemon, glad I made someone laugh and apologies to Action, I didn't mean to make it seem trivial. I really feel for you having to go through this twice Flowers

Kfjsjdbd · 17/12/2021 21:11

I’ve been in soho and Oxford Circus all this week for work that I have to go to. It’s absolutely heaving full of ridiculous tourists who think they should still go shopping. Honestly it’s awful. Don’t do it.
