Doubled jabbed = negative lft??

My dd tested positive on lft on Mon, confirmed by pcr. I am now feeling rough but negative lft. It's exactly the same story in a friend's house. Is it just not showing up on lft because we're double jabbed? My pcr on Mon was negative but I wasn't symptomatic then. Guess I'll have to go for yet another pcr.

I think another PCR is a good idea; wasn’t the advice at one point to test on day 2 and 8 following a close contact?

I’m absolutely not an expert, but it’s my understanding viral load affects how clear a test is so if you were at certain points in disease progression you might miss an infection on LFT due to rising and falling virus levels. PCR is far more accurate which is why it’s recommended with symptoms. It makes sense to me that in a vaccinated person the window to catch active disease may be shorter because you’re primed to fight off the virus.

Thanks, I've been for a pcr again now. I'm guessing it must be reduced viral loads in double jabbed people or either a totally different virus.

Similar situation in our house. DD positive on Monday negative pcrs on Tuesday. I’m feeling a bit off today but know that if I had a negative pcr on Monday even if I do have covid it’ll take a while longer for my viral load to be high enough to test positive on LFT. I’d go for another pcr later today or tomorrow and behave as though you have covid while waiting for the result. It often takes a few days or even three or four days of symptoms to test positive on a LFT. I hope you all stay well.

Sorry I’ve just seen you’ve been for a pcr not sure how I missed this!

Dp caught covid last week. I had symptoms all week but all negative tests - 3 pcrs and multiple lft's. Might have been that I had a different virus. I have since tested positive though with some new symptoms as well as
Last weeks. Who knows.

Definitely need a pcr if you have symptoms though!

Your post has made me think though op. I've heard of it happen to a lot of people where they've had close contact at home with symptoms but negative tests!

It can change so quick. My Dd was negative on pcr on Monday. The very next day she has a strong positive on lft and confirmed by pcr.

DS tested positive on monday. I am double jabbed (pfizer) and been lateral flow testing everyday. Yesterday there was not a hint of a line even though i felt rough. Tested 8 hours later and the line came up instantly!!

Keep testing. Get well soon

No OP it’s likely you just don’t have enough virus yet for it to be detected. I’m double jabbed. Last week I felt ill, like a cold, did LFT negative - phew! But then I got worse over the next few days, so did another LFT, positive did a PCR, positive.

I would imagine there’s a possibility you’re just not registering in the LFT yet. Keep doing them if you can, especially if you start feeling worse, or not getting better.

I was positive, as suspected. Had a rough couple of days but hopefully coming out of it now 🤞 now waiting to see if dp and dd2 have it as well!
