Anyone else booked Butlins over Christmas?

We’ve booked to take the children on Friday for a long weekend. Only now it doesn’t seem like the best plan! Worried we will be putting ourselves in a position where we will then be unable to see family over Christmas if we pick up covid while at Butlins. WWYD?

We are going on the 27th. I'm praying we still get to go. If it's open I'm going!

User9529057 · 16/12/2021 08:43

You could not go and still catch it, but if you can change the dates on it and go next year, that would probably be the best to do

raffle · 16/12/2021 08:48

It’s just going to be such a let down for the kids if we don’t go. Gah! I really don’t know what to do for the best.

Chris Witty said about prioritising, maybe prioritise this and then if the worse should happen could you visit family at a later date and have a quiet Christmas Day

ifonly4 · 16/12/2021 08:54

Going away, going out and seeing family all carries a risk. I think you have to decide what you want to do most.

GrannytoaUnicorn · 16/12/2021 09:14

Why would anybody visit Butlins, let alone during a pandemic peak?!?!?!

bananasinchristmaspyjamas · 16/12/2021 09:17

What do you think your kids would rather do and prioritise that maybe. For me we have a very quiet Christmas anyway so I would prioritise butlins for my family as it's AMAZING

Because my son loves it there. Your snobbery is showing.
Thewiseoneincognito · 16/12/2021 09:19

Butlins? Sorry but that just sounds depressing and not even remotely festive in the slightest, throw in the unnecessary Covid risk and it’s a big fat NO from me.

Why would anybody be such a breathtakingly rude snob, let alone on a thread about Butlins. You show your lack of class right there.
raffle · 16/12/2021 09:27

@GrannytoaUnicorn kids have ASD and this severely limits our holiday destinations. I’m sorry you are unable to imagine that people and families may be different to you and yours.

@Thewiseoneincognito It’s incredibly festive. The lights and decorations are part of the appeal for our Autistic kids.

Just go and enjoy yourselves. If you don’t get symptoms don’t take a test. I went to Butlins adult weekend in November it was brilliant (I’ve already had Covid but my friend didn’t catch it.)

Mumdiva99 · 16/12/2021 09:32

I would go. Enjoy yourself. If you have to have a quiet Christmas then seeing family can be rearranged to next month. Butlins can't as easily be changed.

(How would you feel if you cancelled Butlins but then couldn't see family because they are isolating anyway from another contact?)

raffle · 16/12/2021 09:42

Thanks, you are right. We could catch it anywhere, as could our wider family. It’s important to the children so I think we will go and just try to be as safe as possible.

Not sure where my second reply went. You could catch it in Tesco op or the children from their schools or nursery. I would go

Tidyhousefornow · 16/12/2021 10:47

I'm going this Friday too! Looking forward to it. I've not been at Christmas before so it should be fun. Cancelled a holiday abroad because didn't want to get stuck out there.
Go for it and enjoy!!

WTAF is wrong with you?

Op have a great time, it will be a great memory for your children, they're deserve it (you all do) after a shitty couple of years.

Grin Nailed it

BigSandyBalls2015 · 16/12/2021 11:07

Is MN getting more and more shitty or is it me?

OP if your kids would enjoy this trip more than an extended family xmas day then I would def go for it. You could catch it anywhere. Have fun.

It’s the same snobby arseholes that are snotty whenever anyone starts a thread about staying in a caravan.
DixieSun · 16/12/2021 11:46

Don't justify your choice of holiday OP. I hope you go and have a brilliant time Wine
