Are other countries locking down/panicking about omicron?

I dont really know how to find out. I am normally good at googlefu!

I’m in Switzerland. We were notified yesterday that the schools in our canton will be returning after Christmas with distance learning, with in-classroom teaching resuming on a class by class basis following testing. And the mask requirement will be expended to include grades 1-4 (it had been from grade 5).

They are expected to announce making the COVID cert ‘2G’ - so only people who are vaccinated or recovered would be able to access restaurants, events, museums etc. Currently, if not vaccinated you can pay for a test which if negative gives you a cert valid for 24 hours.
There is talk of making the cert ‘2G+‘ which would mean you would to do testing as well as being vaccinated, not sure they will do that though.

You can only get the booster 6 months after the second vaccine - no plans to change that. They were late starting the boosters, only in mid-November. I am only eligible from 24th Dec and can’t get an appointment until 6th January.

We are ‘strongly advised’ to work from home where possible, though they brought that in a week or two before Omicron.

And you need a negative PCR to enter the country (exceptions for border regions) and another 4-7 days after entering (the second one can be an antigen test).

Thanks for all that info. I think secondaries here have to test students before returning. I do wonder if ours will go online. I would love it if they told us before the night before!
