12-15 second dose

Press conference mentioned that it is bookable from Monday. Is anyone going to book it and use a vaccination hub or wait for school to rollout second dose?
The first jab was chaotic in DS's school

I'll take dd2 in to a hub. She missed it at school when they ran out so her 12 weeks is at a diffrent time. I would rather get her done at 12 weeks rather than wait for the school team to come in and get around to her.

ColettesEarrings · 15/12/2021 18:22

Definitely going to use a hub.

Angel2702 · 15/12/2021 19:02

I will go to a hub, school roll out cannot handle the numbers at all.

kowari · 15/12/2021 19:06

How is it going to work in schools when so many would have been ineligible for the first one because of recently having Covid? We had 100/750 students off with Covid just on the last day of term, jabs a month later.

WoodenReindeer · 15/12/2021 19:10

I wouldn't rely on schools.

Is it 8 weeks gap?

MissyB1 · 15/12/2021 19:11

Didn’t wait for school the first time and won’t wait this time either. The school roll out was too slow.
All our kids should have been vaccinated in the summer holidays!!

megletthesecond · 15/12/2021 19:13

I'll book a hub for mine. DD had hers in a Hub as school was running late.

Hamjamwich · 15/12/2021 19:21

Is it supposed to be a 12 week gap?

My teens haven't had their first one yet as they got Covid just before the school vaccine date and have to wait 12 weeks from then (unless advice changes).

Hamjamwich · 15/12/2021 19:43

Cannot find any guidance about this on gov.uk

DD1's 12 weeks will come up early in the New Year before she goes back to school, so I'll certainly try to book her in before she goes back, if I can.

Iggly · 15/12/2021 19:52

I thought it was 12 weeks. That’s what it is for adults

Lindy2 · 15/12/2021 19:54

The first vaccine still hasn't even been done at DD's school.

I took her to a hub in October half term, as soon as we were able to arrange it ourselves.

A date for school vaccines was given in November and then cancelled the day before. People were then basically told to just sort it themselves if they hadn't already. The number of Covid cases in the school has been massive.

I'll be arranging it for her as soon as she is eligible.

The vaccine roll out in the UK has been excellent apart from the school roll out which has been appalling.

The school roll out should be abandoned in my opinion. Many children will not be eligible yet due to the wait after covid, then second jabs due at different times because of the first jabs, or having covid in between jabs. I don't see how it can possibly work anymore?

Greenhand · 15/12/2021 20:14

Mine had theirs done recently - it is 12 weeks. (I'm CV - and organising it was unbearable. GP let me down and admitted as much - they didn't bother to contact any CV patients etc. )

PlinkPlankPlunk · 15/12/2021 20:15

They said a minimum 12 weeks after the first; these were very staggered so that should spread it out a bit. I wondered if it will be limited to certain clinics because of it having to be Pfizer?

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 15/12/2021 20:32

Currently guidance is 12 weeks post covid infection, for under 18s to have the jab. I wonder if they will change that as well (this doesn't apply to CV/risk group under 18s, for them it's 4 weeks). The current interval between 1st and 2nd doses for those under 18s who are eligible (risk groups) is 8 weeks.

Thank you
