Trying to create a title so as not to panic anyone!

What are your guesses, will schools close again?

@Dghgcotcitc

Teachers will call for it, whether they are successful is anyone’s guess
3rd post...I'm yet to meet a teacher who finds lockdowns easier than going to work and just doing their job normally.

I don't think we will need another lockdown. But what do I know?!

paulhollywoodshairgel · 15/12/2021 21:25

I hope not. It will be the end of me. Lockdown in general will break what little sanity I have left

Blubells · 15/12/2021 21:30

People in contact with omicron have to isolate now.

No, it's changed. You don't need to isolate. You can carry on working and take lateral flow tests.

Itstheprinciple · 15/12/2021 21:51

I hope not, both as a teacher and as a parent.

murakamilove · 15/12/2021 22:34

Nope - no way!

I'm a teacher and don't know anyone in my school calling for it. We all want to carry on. We've done it for so long now (most of us were in teaching during lockdown) that we just get on with it
MammaMacgill87 · 16/12/2021 01:34

I honestly don't care anymore, and these constant will we won't we threads are just pointless, We don't know, we won't know untill we are told and even if we did there's bugger all we can do about it so....Merry Christmas

Chakraleaf · 16/12/2021 09:42

I’m remote learning today with my five year old and I’m already done it. My nine year old copes well. My five years old just tantrums non stop. I’m absolutely dreading it Sad

bettertimesarecomingnow · 16/12/2021 16:04

There were 9 kids in my sons secondary class today.

So either they all isolating or parents keeping them off!

I'm taking ds out as of today as he needs to go get a PCR and then he can stay home next week

worriedatthemoment · 16/12/2021 16:07

My friends son was sent home from school today as so many positive cases in his class - primary
Hes had to go for a pcr

Honestly for the 5yo I'd make sure we did lots of reading, some cutting and sticking type activities, maybe some baking and put "educational" things on TV

If they go back to remote learning, I will not be doing it. Most of the school seemed to be in due to their "key worker" parents last time. I will tell the school, my DD will not be doing any work at home this time.
AvocadoAndToast · 16/12/2021 17:26

Wales have extended the return to school date by a couple of days so schools can either plan for pupils return or sort online learning.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 16/12/2021 17:30

In the first lockdown when much wasn’t known about covid it was quite scary having to send our kids into school as we were key workers. I’d have rather kept them home and safe in those days.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 16/12/2021 17:31

Yep. That's us.
We were already only having the children back on the 10th due to having training days after Christmas.
Now they are planning for return days. At least it doesnt affect our parents as they were already having to cover childcare.

We are to use the days between now and the end of term (next wed here) to plan for blended learning in case it is required...and that not our head saying that, it is the director for education for the county.

Electriq · 17/12/2021 13:25

Local schools here have been told to prepare for home schooling.

happypillsareworking · 31/12/2023 09:35

WTF? Have you just emerged from your covid shelter

Interesting to be reminded that we all knew that schools would be shut in January and yet Boris had no idea.

Poor Gavin tried to stop it all, but wasn’t invited to Boris’s special meetings!

I'm told that the solution to the harms suffered by children during the pandemic would be having a cabinet minister for children.

This was Jan 2022 so they didn't close. Would have been a travesty if they had.

As the coivd inquiry evidence has shown it was a travesty and result of government inaction that schools closed at all.
