Isolation symptoms question

Probably a really stupid question so apologies.

3 out of 4 us are confirmed covid. Dd who had escaped it so far had a negative pcr yesterday and a strong positive lft today so pcr booked for tomorrow. She has no symptoms at present.

I know that isolation begins from the day you have symptoms or if asymptomatic from day of pcr test.

But what if say you test positive with no symptoms but say you gain symptoms a few days later. Is it 10 days from your positive result or the symptoms starting? Say if you gained symptoms 2 days after positive result do you start the 10 days again?

Probably a really daft question I know! I'm just a bit confused and feeling ill 😅

This is covered on the nhs page. Your ten days restarts if you develop symptoms.

I've never read this before - thank you! Interesting cos that also adds on a day to my isolation then. I tested positive on lft on Sunday with no new symptoms (was ill last week with all negative test though). Yesterday (Monday) I woke up with head cold symptoms!

Plus I've found test and trace really unhelpful. Dp got covid last weekend.

Ds had symptoms early last week but tested negative on pcr twice before positive on Friday. Test and trace told me to isolate from his symptoms starting on the Monday but his pcr was negative - twice. So I've counted it from pcr. They were clueless about when to start and end his isolation and responded with 'not sure' and 'think so'

I spoke to a doctor yesterday who said I was likely to have covid based on symptoms last week but was negative all week. So I was basing isolation on positive test but they said not too. Wonderful.

Just have to wait and see if Dd gets symptoms or not!
