12-15 Year Olds - are they being offered two doses now?

Thatsnotmy2021 · 14/12/2021 20:17

Not sure if I imagined it, but I thought all 12-15 year olds were now being offered 2 doses of the vaccine, but I can't see this info on any government website.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or post a link please?

Yes but 12 week gap. JCVI recommended which the government said they would adopt but doesn't appear to have been updated by the NHS yet.

JaninaDuszejko · 14/12/2021 20:26

They better hurry up. My two had their first jab in October.

Monkeytennis97 · 14/12/2021 20:26

Being rolled out from mid January I think

MrsHamlet · 14/12/2021 20:40

Yep... schools now have to organise this for January as well as doing our actual jobs. Brilliant

Piggyinblankets · 14/12/2021 20:46

Only 44% have had first jabs so far . Mainly because of chaotic rollout to schools because of poor planning/ lack of foresight (not by the schools) and poor communication between local health authorities/NHS/ schools.

jb23newmum · 14/12/2021 20:49

My daughter had hers 23rd September so 12 weeks is tomorrow . School don’t seem to have been told anything and we have been liaising with the council to see if we can go to a walk in centre .

Angel2702 · 14/12/2021 20:50

I won’t hold my breath for the school team then. They Missed my son’s COVID jab as they could only manage to jab a fraction of the pup and then didn’t do my other son’s flu vaccine which I have been unbelievable to arrange elsewhere.

Faircastle · 14/12/2021 20:56

The NHS is planning a hybrid model for the second dose for 12-15 year olds:

  • In-school offer (school aged immunisation service going into schools, starting from 10 Jan)
  • Out of school offer (vaccination clinics, PCNs, pharmacies etc)

So if they can't get it at school, they should be able to get it in the community.

megletthesecond · 14/12/2021 20:59

DS will be due his 2nd on the 1st Jan. I'm hoping the website updates and I can book it from there.

JaninaDuszejko · 14/12/2021 21:04

That's good to know. Although, to be fair, our school immunistion seemed to be well organised.

BryanAdamsLeftAnkle · 14/12/2021 21:06

12 weeks from 1st to 2nd dose.

Also worth noting.

If they have had covid then they should be 12 weeks post covid to get 2nd dose not 28 days like over 18s

SAIS are woefully understaffed. They were attempting to do HPV and flu as normal, plus covid. It's no wonder it didn't go to plan.

Our ccg is doing walk in clinics for this group listed online when and where. Dad got her second jab yesterday

Can I ask where you are based ?
forgotthebatteries · 15/12/2021 17:27

It was just on the press conference that 12-15 year olds can book 2nd jabs from Monday

tootyfruitypickle · 15/12/2021 17:28

@Faircastle do you think this will include first doses for all the kids who had covid in the autumn so haven't had any vaccination yet ?

tootyfruitypickle · 15/12/2021 17:30

In school I mean. I can't get anything close for dd (30 miles plus) and she's not due anyway until mid jan cos of having had covid

Eaumyword · 15/12/2021 17:31

Lincoln Showground last weekend were amazing, it made my eyes prickle to see the wonderful efforts being made.
They had queues for:
12-15yr olds 1st and 2nd dose.
Booster for 18+ walk in.
Booster for 18+ booked online.
16+17yr olds 2nd dose.
Really well organised and vaccination on a huge scale, bless them.

Sleepyblueocean · 15/12/2021 17:38

Ds is due his 2nd from Saturday but has to have special arrangements ( could not cope with a vaccination centre) so I will have to wait until the GP calls him in again.

Yep just seen this - were going to try a walk in - may still do
MrsWombat · 15/12/2021 17:49

They've just said on the press conference that 12-15 year olds can book their second jab from Monday so they can hopefully get it done before they go back to school in January.

I think you have to book now if you missed the first one - but maybe corrected

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/12/2021 17:50

I thought he’s aid they were reducing the time between jabs. So 12-15 could book via Booker.

gogohm · 15/12/2021 17:50

From Monday

Sleepyblueocean · 15/12/2021 17:52

I think it is still 12 week gap unless CV.
