What is going on?? This doesn't make sense to me at all.

We have Scotland limiting households and yet we have opened up all international travel. Is it just because the horse has bolted already or what

Once there is community transmission border controls not advised. There’s just no point. The variant is here and spreading.

The point of closing borders was to try and prevent/delay the new strain getting in. It’s here and spreading widely so no point in keeping closed.

At this point it’s more effective for countries to ban us if they’ve not already got omicron.

There's going to be a lot of people who returned from these countries who have had to pay a small fortune for hotel quarantine who are now going to be scratching their heads and thinking WTF - so much money spent and now everyone else can come here without these costs.
I can't believe how much the government is messing people about, after all it's thousands for hotel quarantine. What a joke!!

There's a certain 'fuck it' quality to most of the English policy during this pandemic.

So are those people currently in quarantine holidays going to be allowed to leave quarantine early and get a refund?

Most of those have shut borders though to most countries to try and stop it coming in.

I’m at relieved, been on to my mum to rebook her flights which she had to cancel as my country was on the red list, haven’t seen her for 2 years. I’ve told her to come asap before we find another variant!

So people still have to do a pcr test within 48 hours of arriving but do they have to isolate for those 48 hours?
