No LFTs to order

Just that, none available to order online when I just tried. Our local pharmacy has stock for collection but if you need them just an FYI. We are daily testing at the moment because of omicron in school so go through a box every two days.

Yup same here.

I suspect people will just get on and not bother testing anymore. They won't stop their activities because Government isn't organised enough#

My DD is due to attend a mass event this weekend which asks for a lat to be taken first - no evidence required in any case. Guess nobody will be testing unless they have a stockpile (some will have not bothered in any case).

Same will go for other events or people will have a pic on their phone of any old lat flow test. One per family perhaps?

We are going to the theatre tonight so just went to our local pharmacy to pick up some tests and told they have none and there are none available to order 😱

JuneOsborne · 13/12/2021 12:28

I just tried to order a box. None available. Just great, isn't it?

Downtown36 · 13/12/2021 12:28

Me too. Local pharmacy is out and nothing available online. So frustrating.

Moonopoly · 13/12/2021 12:29

Same just tried to order some

Iamanicepersonreally · 13/12/2021 12:31

I managed to order some on Saturday, but it's the first lot I've ordered since the pandemic started

MLMshouldbeillegal · 13/12/2021 12:33

I'm not surprised, given that people on MN are proudly declaring that their family or 5 or 6 are testing everyone, every day.

Cryingbutstilltrying · 13/12/2021 12:35

I work in a pharmacy. We can’t get them, it’s so frustrating. All day yesterday we were having to apologise to people who were understandably getting quite irate. They want to do the right thing but it won’t take many failed trips before they stop bothering. Yet I keep hearing that other people have great stashes of them at home. Am going to text dd and get her to see if school (secondary) have any left, they had loads last week in the office. We’re down to 3 at home and both kids schools have asked for daily, plus me at work twice a week. Wondering who to prioritise tbh 😩

LooksBetterWithAFaceMask · 13/12/2021 12:39

I work in a pharmacy we are getting a box of 50 delivered every day whether we need them or not.

We've been told to test every day by the school as two years are out with Om. Primary. Even though the website says not to test primary age. Farce.

You're lying, OP. Boris has reliably told us there is a ready supply of LFT and we all know he is the very bastion of truth.

Grin

No matter how much they are testing, people using LFTs are not to blame for a shortage.

There has been months of LFTs being pushed as the responsible thing to do and the government basically put out a prerecorded advert for LFT last night without checking their mates could continue to supply the increased demand...

Where vaguely in the country are you? Going to be a postcode lottery again. I'm in London.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 13/12/2021 12:47

At 8pm last night, there were no boxes of LFT to be had for delivery in my postcode. At 7am this morning, I successfully ordered some. Now, I very much doubt that a lorry had just arrived at wherever they send them from - so I'm inclined to think that there is a set quota per day per postcode. Therefore if anybody wants some, I would suggest going online at 7am to order ...

Bramshott · 13/12/2021 12:49

It's like the PPE fiasco all over again isn't it!!

Govt; "everyone should test regularly and book their booster"
Next day: LFTs run out; site for booking booster jabs crashes...

52andblue · 13/12/2021 13:06

You couldn’t make this up, sadly. A new highly transmissible strain of Covid necessitates the need for a massive booster push & increased testing & the Govt makes promises it can't keep (booster capacity) & runs out of tests.

ColourMeExhausted · 13/12/2021 13:07

It's not surprising, given how many of us are now testing regularly. And yet it's not even that effective really - been to two gatherings recently where everyone had tested on the day, but in two cases the tested the day after the gathering and were positive!

And yes, unless large scale gatherings are banned, people will just fire on and pretend to have taken one....

Spikeyball · 13/12/2021 13:24

The guidance change tomorrow around contacts testing will mean that people are trying to get some in. I think the panic ordering will drop off when schools finish for Christmas.

HerbertChops · 13/12/2021 13:34

DS was testing daily for secondary school last few weeks, then tested positive himself last week on LFT and PCR. Been told by test and trace to do daily LFTs. Can’t get anymore now though so what do we do? It was daily LFTs instead of all of us isolating?

WarriorN · 13/12/2021 14:02

I got one yesterday but couldn't today. It's says Sunderland distribution centre on the pack.

Apparently can be collected from pharmacies again but I can see that being an issue if you're isolating due to omnicron contact.

WarriorN · 13/12/2021 14:05

It was mentioned on R4 news.

HereComesTheSun12 · 13/12/2021 14:16

It's all going to hell again. We've been asked to test as close contacts but there's no tests. Having to travel half way across the county for PCRs. I know the rest of the class aren't bothering but what do you do? If testing isn't easy, people won't do it. If people don't test there's going to be an even bigger problem.

Half tempted to keep them off because of the number of cases at school but they've got Christmas parties, special events all week both at school and in clubs. We've paid out a lot to try and make this Christmas special after last year's debacle but I can't see us lasting another 12 days without getting Covid.

Fallagain · 13/12/2021 14:18

Just in time for the new omicron close contact guidance starting tomorrow which says to do daily LFT.
