Has anyone been able to book their Covid booster?

Been trying for about an hour, getting a “you’re currently 6472 in the queue” message, then it cycles between NHS number / DOB / asking if I’m immunocompromised. Once I managed to enter postcode to check covid centres but then crashed again

Just wondering if anyone has been able to do it?

I caught it on sat night when the rumours started here and on reddit that it was open for over 30s. Booked for next week.

Quornflakegirl · 13/12/2021 14:06

I had a text from my surgery last night with a link to book a day and time. For one for next week.

LikeACatInTheDark · 13/12/2021 14:11

I have mine tomorrow morning at my GP surgery; I phoned earlier and they're doing a weekly drop in style clinic. Arranged directly with them, couldn't get through to 119 at all today.

simonisnotme · 13/12/2021 14:23

we had ours a couple of weeks ago at a drop in clinic
done and dusted in half an hour

icebearforpresident · 13/12/2021 16:44

DH got his booked this morning for the weekend. Also over 30 in Scotland. At one point he was in a virtual queue of about 6000 people to get his registration sorted but once that was dealt with it was pretty straightforward.

Local vaccine clinic over the weekend had 2 hour waits. Apparently uptake over the last weeks had been dropping so they opened up for walk ins and half the town arrived.

Thorilicious · 13/12/2021 16:53

Do you have to say you have a weakened immune system? I tried to book last night, and have up as it was going in city, but is the only way to get through is to say this?

Twizbe · 13/12/2021 16:54

We booked ours yesterday afternoon after seeing that it was open to do so.

Tbh, even then the soonest we could have had was Xmas Eve. Leave it a week or so and try again then.

usernotfound0000 · 13/12/2021 16:55

I managed to book yesterday just after the announcement that it would be opening on Monday.

littleowls83 · 13/12/2021 16:57

I booked mine Saturday night, only date available 6th Jan. No walk ins available locally for boosters. DH can't book his at all. 2000 appointments wasted in my area last week, so it's not going too well.

Joystir59 · 13/12/2021 16:59

They should just run walk in centres now. Advise people by surname initials to attend specific time slots. No need for appointments then.

Orangetractor · 13/12/2021 17:03

Tried to book mine via nhs website and couldn't get on at all, tried last night and this morning. Then received a text from GP this morning and managed to book it for Wednesday. Age 29

nordica · 13/12/2021 17:36

I booked mine before the announcement on Sunday, as soon as I read on Twitter people in their 30s were able to book. It's on the 28th and about a 30 minute walk (I don't drive and don't want to take a bus!). My GP surgery has also sent me an invite but the earliest appointment through them is on the 30th. Hoping they might add more availability in the coming days maybe? I'm nearly 39 so if I can't book until late Dec, how could all over 18s possibly get booked in before the end of the year.

Igmum · 13/12/2021 17:57

Yes. Booked with ease at about 2 am (sometimes it helps to have insomnia Grin)

HeadPain · 13/12/2021 17:58

@Flingingmelon

Just put my NHS number in about fifty times but after two hours I'm booked.

Bit nervous though because I did this last week and when I got there they told me if I was less than a six month gap they wouldn't jab me - so went home annoyed and empty armed.

I thought if you're able to book it then you're eligible? My second dose was in August but I booked for tomorrow :/ Should I not have it if it's less than 6 months? I was doing it as I'll be taking my dad and thought I'd get mine at same time.
Thorilicious · 13/12/2021 18:42

Actually just managed to book. I'm in for the 30th

H1978 · 13/12/2021 19:02

It was 6 months but they’ve changed it to 3 months since your second dose, as the new variant numbers are rising. You’ve booked right.

NotTheOriginalFeargalSharkey · 13/12/2021 19:08

I didn't bother booking.
Saw our local walk in had no queue, so nipped in.
Got my booster and ds got jab 2 at the same time.

ReallyRatherBlonde · 13/12/2021 19:25

I booked mine at 4.30 am this morning (up with DS), no queue, went straight through to book in for tomorrow afternoon

Ok thank you
Roundeartheratchriatmas · 13/12/2021 19:29

My GP texted me to come for mine - booked no problems.

PheasantsNest · 13/12/2021 20:38

@Thorilicious no that is for people who are genuinely immunosuppressed. You can't lie as it will know.

Thorilicious · 13/12/2021 20:40

@PheasantsNest I know, that's why I didn't book it last night, as it was asking for proof to be taken. It's been updated now to include my age group, so I've booked myself in

That would be a terrible idea. With an appointment you can plan that around other commitments eg children. With a walk in you would be waiting for a potentially long time and more than likely outside in the cold and or wet. Not going to encourage many to turn up
ShirleyPhallus · 13/12/2021 21:15

I managed to get on this evening and now booked! Very efficient process when it works IMO
