Hey so my son had a slightly raised temp of 37.5 last night for a few hours. Was up alot crying but not sure why. Fine in himself and temp is now gone. Do I still pcr test for covid to be safe? I've got a lateral flow too. It could be teeth but I'm not sure if it needs to be a persistent fever to test or not? Thanks

Yes you should test and no it doesn’t need to be ongoing fever. You can just swab the nose though in a wee one.

Thank you for clarification. I will get him tested ASAP Smile

Eh? 37.5 isn't a fever!

No I wouldn't test in that instance.

HeyDugeesCakeBadge · 13/12/2021 08:49

I don't think 37.5 would qualify as a fever just a bit warm? I wouldn't test under these circumstances.

MalbecandToast · 13/12/2021 08:49

Yes anything under 38 is considered ok for children I was always told?

thingymaboob · 13/12/2021 09:04

Paramedic here. 37.5 not classed as fever

Lcw29 · 13/12/2021 09:29

@thingymaboob thanks for that. He has a hospital appointment tomorrow which is why I was being extra cautious. He's a bit under the weather now abd has gone to bed. My husband has also now woken feeling very poorly so I'm going to rearrange his appointment anyway to be safe.
