Hi

At what level would you call for an ambulance when monitoring oxygen levels with the oximeter and Covid please?

When my partners levels dropped to 92 I was advised by GP to call an ambulance. but the paramedics on arrival said that was ok and only to call if he was breathless or lips turned blue or numbers were in 80’s!

It’s really difficult to know what to do especially with conflicting advice

I would agree with your GP.

This is what my gp told me:

94+ no action necessary
90-93 call gp. Get antibiotics and steroids prescribed
Under 90 - 999

That's for a caucasian adult with no copd or anything like that.

It may be that the paramedics were getting better reading is on their equipment than you did on yours, which may have reassured them. But if you are worried speak to the gp again.

The GP asked me to measure his oxygen levels - get him to walk 40 steps and measure again and because it dropped further after this test said to call them but the paramedics were just so dismissive and made me feel I was over-reacting.

This is the NHS advice:

I guess that the paramedics are only taking people in if it’s absolutely unavoidable at the moment though?

You weren’t overreacting, you were following your GP’s advice.

Thank you all for your advice. Such a worrying time with my DP not well at all with Covid. Yes I know the NHS are so unbelievably stretched and I am conscious not to waste their time x
