Is there an official list of people who are exempt from wearing masks (in Wales)?

A family member assures me that they are officially exempt from wearing a mask because the condition that they have been diagnosed with is on the official list.

I’ve never heard of such a list and was wondering if there is one why it’s not been more widely publicised so that others can be more sympathetic. On the other hand I can see that it might just result in even more people not wearing masks.

I’m not looking at the rights and wrongs of mask wearing (or not) but just wondering if an official and definitive list of exemptions exists.

I thought it was discretion of gp? Might be

There is no official list, it's on a case by case basis, purely on whether you can tolerate a mask eg asthma or autism doesn't get you a blanket pass but some people with the conditions may not be able to

No, I don’t think there’s a list. It’s a more general “if you have an illness or condition that prevents you wearing a mask” you don’t have to.
The only thing close to a specific noted reason is not having to wear one if you’re with someone who relies on lip reading.

🤣

You’ve all confirmed what I thought. Though it’s certainly not worth any further discussion with this person…..

No, there is no list but the guidance is here:

I don't mean to be mean, but I do know a few people who have ordered them from Amazon without any kind of GP intervention at all
It was a while ago though to be fair

Being generous, there were certainly specific possible exemptions mentioned in the news reporting around masks. Sentences including things like “for example those with asthma or autism may not have to wear one”.

However it wasn’t an official list, and what was often missed was that those weren’t automatic exemptions, they were examples of some people who may not be able to wear one. Not that everyone with asthma is exempt. But that was misunderstood, hence you get people saying “I’m exempt but I can wear a mask”.

@SickAndTiredAgain and I think this is exactly what’s happened here and now it’s concreted in their mind,
