PCR testing - how do they know who’s is who?

Hi,

I have a situation which is bizarre to me considering how organised the testing centre was! My mum who we gave close contact with was poorly and tested positive on a PCR, I also felt unwell so I also booked a test for myself and my little girl (she had no symptoms).

The testing bags were given to us to do the tests and I kept them separate thinking at the end but they would identify mine by my bar code on my phone and then match it with the bar code on the test bag. Instead The guy just took a picture of my reg and then registered both bar codes on his phone. I was surprised and said how can you possibly identify who’s test is who’s by that? His response was well you’re in the same car.

I’ve had results back and I’m negative and my daughter is positive. There is no way I’ve not got Covid and all my LFTs say positive too and my daughters say negative and she has no symptoms!

I’m baffled! Has this happened to anyone else? X

That sounds weird. We're test pros and they always scan your QR code and then the barcode and link them up, whether we do a drive through or walk in. I'd ring 119, explain the situation and ask for advice! Just be warned they'll probably say you have to test again and they can't cancel daughter's test result.

They did indeed say that and that I would have to escalate a case for my daughters negative to be voided! I’ll see what todays results say x

They’ve always scanned our individual QR codes and swabs.

I had this yesterday. Didn't scan the o
Qr codes but did ask the kids name. When I questioned she said the qr codes were up due to car registration. The previous day they'd scanned our qr codes and the barcodes on the bag.
Haven't got the results yet but hope they have registered them right.

I'd just make it clear whenever you're contacted by T&T when your symptoms started/got your first positive LFT so that you can finish isolation at the right time.
