If you've recently had Covid are you just as likely to get Omicron?

I am at the tail end of my Covid illness, day 9 to be exact. I am able too go out in a few days.

I really, really do not want this again as I have now had Covid twice, the first being back in early 2020 and it was even nastier. In between I have had flu and nasty colds, which I never normally get.

I am double vaccinated, and have covid now. I now cannot have the booster until mid Jan 2022.

Am I just as likely to get Omicron or do I have a bit more immunity now I have just had it.

Honestly, I think the next one may finish me off.

I had Covid in July, was on a ventilator for 2 weeks, during which time I got Pneumonia and had a stroke. I'm fully recovered now (just about) and have had 2 vaccines, the 'flu jab and the Pneumonia one, but not due for the Covid booster just yet.

I'm not in the least bit concerned about getting the new variant - I've survived the worst of things so far, and if I get something else, I'll either survive or not. I'm living life as much as I can.

I understand that infection from Delta doesn’t grant immunity from Omicrom

does anyone have any links about this? I really want to know too!

Would like to know this two as we are currently in self isolation with delta.

I am fairly sure that it will Give a degree of some immunity for a relatively short period. And have read that a combination of infection and vaccination is likely to give the best immunity of all. I don’t think the answers are really there yet but will be lying low until I have had booster.

I'm not a scientist but I don't see how anyone can possibly know. Omicron hasn't been around for long enough for any kind of research has it?

I think I will be taking extra precautions for a while when I am allowed out in a few days. I wasn't negligent before, but I wasn't 100% on it.

I'll be wearing a mask more, more hand hygiene and more keeping away from others. Also, more immune boosting supplements.

I don't think I could have avoided it this time as it came via school and the first time I didn't even know what it was as it was at the beginning of the 1st wave.

I've run down my freezer this week as we have all been isolating with Covid but I will be restocking it big time in case of a lockdown or this happening again. I was caught out a bit with food.
