To get the booster when poorly. What have your reactions been to the booster?

Had my text to go and book my booster, went through the link on the text and the only days I'm being offered are the 23rd or 30th. Don't want to have it on either of these as I'm worried about being Ill over Xmas or new year. I was planning on just nipping in to one of the walk in places today to get it done but I've woken up feeling a bit rotten with a cold (no cough or sore throat and I've taken a lft which is negative). So I'm just wondering what peoples reactions have been to their booster? If they have made people feel as poorly as the first or second then maybe I should wait as I don't want to feel even worse? But I'm quite anxious to just get it done asap. For context my first two vaccines were the Astra zeneca and I felt so poorly for 24 hrs afterwards that I couldn't get out of bed

I had s sore arm and felt a bitwoo for a day. Nothing major.

Cupcakegirl13 · 11/12/2021 08:49

I was same as you OP 2x AZ felt very rough after 1st. Had booster (Moderna) when I had a cold , felt full of cold the next day and sore arm but figure it wasn’t any worse than a normal cold.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 11/12/2021 08:51

I didn't have any reactions.
I felt a bit rough after the first vaccination but the next two were fine.

Figgygal · 11/12/2021 08:51

My husband is still in bed he feels awful after his booster on Thursday started with sore arm then flu symptoms
I know two people who passed out after there's (healthy blokes early 30s) one in the 15 mins after one later in day when back at work where he also pissed himself
Another friend was sent home from work as felt so awful
2 had AZ previously not sure on others

I wouldnt go today if you're already under the weather
Im due mine this week and now dreading it

frozendaisy · 11/12/2021 08:58

If you have a cold, it might be Covid it's hard to know for sure, I would assume a booster on top not advisable. If you are anxious to have booster then perhaps see next weekend for a walk in.

Hard to advise really as you don't want to spoil Christmas or New Year, but you're anxious to get the booster and today you are not well.

If you have been contacted via surgery you will be able to book online, there are many date options online perhaps book in on a date that is suitable to your diary.

I was fine, injection site sore for 3-4 days.

Walkaround · 11/12/2021 09:29

Felt very achey and shivery in the evening and overnight after first AZ and needed lots of paracetamol, then tired the next day. Sore arm for about 3 days after 2nd AZ. Mildly sore arm after Pfizer booster, if I’m trying to look for any symptoms (don’t even feel uncomfortable sleeping on that side or lifting my arm up, so very minimal!).

BlueSoul · 11/12/2021 09:30

I had no reaction at all, aside from slight tenderness at the injection site. This pain was much reduced from my previous jabs. All have been Pfizer.

whitehorsesdonotlie · 11/12/2021 09:35

I had Modena booster this week. Sore, heavy arm but that's it.

Nobody I know has had a bad reaction. I think Mumsnet attracts people who have terrible reactions, skewing the results...

whitehorsesdonotlie · 11/12/2021 09:35

And no, don't go for your booster if you're ill. that's one of the questions you're asked.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/12/2021 10:00

I thought you could have the booster with a cold. I've got a cold at the moment and everything I've read says it's fine. I'll do a LFT and if that's negative I'm still planning on going.

Valeriane · 11/12/2021 10:05

I had booster while a bit under the weather and was fine

Nidan2Sandan · 11/12/2021 10:05

Two friends have had a booster this week.

One had Pfizer & was seriously unwell, the other Moderna & had a headache. A bad headache though.

I have my jab today, and I'm nervous of side effects as AZ nearly finished me off.

Porridgeislife · 11/12/2021 10:05

Had Pfizer booster on Thursday (also pregnant). First jabs were Moderna. My arm was a bit sore and yesterday afternoon/evening I felt fluey/achy/shivery.

Fine today though, I wouldn’t consider it particularly bad as side effects go.

I agree! I'd had a cold for a few days before my booster. I checked the advice (which said go), took an LFT to be doubly sure it wasn't covid, and went off. I was a bit tired the next day but was fine otherwise. With the rise in Omicron, I'd definitely not want to delay a booster injection because I had a cold.

Well good for you and them; loads of fellow teaching colleagues have had flu like symptoms for 24-48 hours or more and some even had to take time off. We were lucky to get LA arranged ones before a bank hol weekend (and most missed what they had planned!)

None on mn that I know of

bizboz · 11/12/2021 10:17

DH had 24 hours of chills and fever after 1st dose (AZ). Nothing after second. Had Moderna booster and was feeling very unwell with flu-like symptoms for about 3 days and then mildly unwell for several days after. I had nothing after my first two (AZ) and have booster booked for 21st. Really hoping I'm not feeling unwell for Christmas...

Artus · 11/12/2021 10:20

Had mine yesterday. Fine today, maybe a little bit more tired than usual. Had Covid a month ago, felt much worse!

ShakesFist · 11/12/2021 10:21

I had moderna on Thursday. I felt slightly hot in the evening and had a sore arm so took some nurofen. Felt a bit under the weather on Friday with a v sore arm but fine, didn't need painkillers or anything. Feel right as rain today.

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 11/12/2021 10:25

I’ve got mine booked for the 23rd (from before the rules changed - not ideal but better than waiting until after Christmas).

I was going to try and change it, but I’ve currently got the cold from hell (negative PCR). No way would I want to add something else into the mix. I’m just going to wait for the 23rd now.

milkysmum · 11/12/2021 11:06

Had my Pfizer booster Wednesday. Felt fine afterwards. No reaction at all to it.
