I need help figuring out isolation times!

So DD had positive LFT yesterday, went for PCR and positive result has just come through. Says isolate 10 days from start of symptoms, or test date if no symptoms and next 10 full days.

BUT she's been unwell with the same symptoms she has now since Mon 29 Nov. As have I. We both took a PCR on 30 Nov - negative. I've since had four negative LFTs and another negative PCR a few days ago (as my cough got worse); she's had three negative LFTs over the same period.

The only difference is that she (and I!) both started with painful, stinging eyes the day before yesterday.

So... when do we start counting isolation from? Anyone had something similar?

I think you have to go from yday and your positive tests as day 0 given that you've had previous negative tests. Today as day 1 and so on. T&T will advise when they call.

From the day you got the positive lft, you could have two things at once

That does make sense! I just felt a bit stumped looking at the message this morning. Do T&T always get in touch?

I agree - given you rules those symptoms out before, your first real inkling would be the positive LTF. So there day 0 and 10 more days. Itchy eyes could be related but it’s not a very common symptom so could just be related to the other cold.

T&T never rang me, just had automated texts regularly. They don’t seem bothered about how figured my isolation dates; I just get reminder texts to stay in until the end of my isolation and how to get extra help etc.

T&T just rang and frankly they seemed as confused as I was. She initially said, "ok, I'll put down 7 days ago as the start of symptoms" which doesn't have any bearing to anything I said, and while I don't want DD to isolate longer than necessary, that would mean her being out of isolation just after a positive test, which seemed like madness.
After more discussion they decided to start isolation from 2 days ago. But it wasn't massively reassuring...

The plot thickens. T&T said I don't need to isolate but recommended a PCR, which I've booked. Got the text from them saying I have been identified as a contact and don't need to isolate.

DH has got a text saying he has to isolate for 10 days. That he should test but even if it's negative he still legally has to isolate.

WTF? This is a bit of a nightmare as I can WFH, all fine there, but he can't!

I've told him to call 119. Anyone else had this?

You DH will need to fill in a link that is sent by T&T
Once he’s done that & if he is double jabbed he won’t have to isolate unless suspected omicron.

Thank you - that's what 119 told him too, he's doing it right now!
