I was turned away from my booster and can't rebook on the main system.
I will persist, although mine woll now be well into january. How many people will just think screw it?
Why hasnt this been picked up by the bbc?

Why were you turned away?

LookdeepintotheParka · 10/12/2021 21:56

Were you booked for the booster and turned away??

I can't get a booster through the system until mid Jan despite being nearly 6 months since my 2nd jab (over 40)

We're not allowed to WFH. Keeping fingers crossed Omicron is as mild as they're hoping!

LemonCake79 · 10/12/2021 21:57

Was it because you are under 40?

Theimpossiblegirl · 10/12/2021 22:03

I can't book a booster. I'm 44, teaching while covid spreads through the school like wildfire and not at the 6 month mark until January. It's crap.

Can’t you phone 119? That’s what the system says to do if you can’t book through the online system.
Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/12/2021 22:06

Why were you turned away?

I'm 31, happy to wait my turn, it's important that over 40s are done first. Age is the biggest factor in Covid risk.

Fendidntdrake · 10/12/2021 22:08

Our trust gave a press release a few weeks ago asking people not to turn up on spec as they were overwhelmed.

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2021 22:24

Im over 40,was able to book but then turned away. Apparently the gap has been shortened but many venues hadnt received the updated information.
But i cant rebook on the system. And am now being told booster very important for protection.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2021 22:29

Even if id had it yesterday i wouldn't be fully protected for a few weeks. As it is, it'll now be late january. How many people just wont bother fighting to rebook? What impact will that have on community transmission.

starrynight19 · 10/12/2021 22:31

I’m over 40 can’t get my booster until Jan. Just hoping that I can avoid covid whilst it’s ripping through my school. Seems bizarre it’s so difficult to book.

Cookerhood · 10/12/2021 22:32

The Guardian picked it up.

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2021 22:32

Oh dod it? Good

OP posts:
ArblemarchTFruitbat · 10/12/2021 22:37

It seems to be regional. I (47, up north) found it really easy to book my booster. My sister (44, down south) is really struggling, yet she is on the CEV list and well over 6 months since she got her 2nd Jab last May.

Cookerhood · 10/12/2021 22:39

I can't find it now but I read it this morning. I'll have another look.
StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2021 22:39

Im in the North east! Booking was fine, getting there fine, in the chair with my arm out and was told i shouldnt have been given an appointment

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2021 22:39

Arble that's crap though. Hope your sister gets sorted soon

OP posts:
Cookerhood · 10/12/2021 22:40

We are jabbing anyone regardless of age where I work as long as it is 3 months since their last one

Wellbythebloodyhell · 10/12/2021 22:42

Just because the government decide it "plans" to do something doesn't mean it's automatically available overnight. When Boris announced his plan to offer jabs at 3m and 18+ what he failed to tell his adoring public that it needs extra timing, logistics and supply to enable his elaborate plans to become reality Confused

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2021 22:44

But the booking system was uodated to reflect the shorter gap.i fit the eligible criteria and was allowed to book.

This in spades

Thanks Stealth - so do I, and that everyone else who's due to can access theirs.

It's so frustrating when people are being told to get boosted, they're doing everything to comply and then being turned away,

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2021 22:46

That's my worry. Turned away and unable to rebook without significant effort

OP posts:
Zippea · 10/12/2021 22:46

I can’t get an appt until end of January as there isn’t availability. I popped to a local drop in centre to get a drop in booster done today and was turned away.
Apparently the site doesn’t do drop ins despite their website saying they do, they were also turning people away for not being 6 months past their second jab despite advice from jvci and nhs saying otherwise.
I don’t think the rollout of the boosters has been particularly well handled as there appears to be such regional variations

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2021 22:48

Agree. The harder it is, the lower uptake will be and that will affect us all

OP posts:
ArblemarchTFruitbat · 10/12/2021 22:51

Yes - there are people who will be put off by the difficulties - people who are vulnerable, people who are scared of the vaccine, people who are struggling with other things going on in their lives, or mental health issues. The process needs to be as straightforward as possible to maximise uptake.
