So is everyone that tests positive on pcr getting sent out special omicron PCRs?? Or just suspected cases

You would think it’s just suspected Omicron, maybe they want to check how long you test positive for, but presume they do different testing, which is good, the more they know about this the better.

I didn't think there was a special test you have timtake.

I thought that they just ran additional tests (the sequencing) on positive PCRs (doing as many as possible)

My son has just tested positive, the test and trace call today said the whole household will be getting sent out omicron PCRs to do... so was just wondering if everyone is offered this?

Same here.
DS3 tested positive from PCR taken yesterday. NHS said when they called today that they would send out postal PCRs for the household to test for Omicron.

Just to add we’ve all been for standard PCRs today since we got DS3s positive. Test and Trace said it’s fine to do that as well. I’m keen to know if DS3 has omicron variant (was told there would be a test for him as well as all household members).

Test and trace said our household may be sent PCR's to test for Omicron. This was a few days ago and we haven't received any yet so I don't think we will be now.

DD has tested positive, she had a positive LFT Tuesday and we all went PCRs on Weds. Got results last night and this morning and test and trace today didn't mention anything about Omicron tests

I bet it's in areas they've already identified as having cases of omnicron.

Our two eldest DSs were kept off school two days this week as confirmed omicron case on their school bus. Though it is my youngest who has just had a positive. I can’t believe track and trace is that sophisticated 🤔

Ahh yes maybe!! Well we have been told to expect them in the post.. I did mention that we have already been for PCRs today

I'm sure I read that some labs are able to test and others not so maybe the ones that aren't are sending out the additional tests. At this stage though I've read so much that I'm not sure my memory alone is reliable
