Step Son - advice please?

Hello!

My 10 year old step son has just tested positive at his mums house. Currently both myself and his dad are showing as negative.
I can’t find advise anywhere on what we do here - should he stay at his mums with his sister for the isolation period? Can his sister still move around as long as she is testing negative?

It makes sense to me they all isolate there until better- but just want to check the logistics?

We’ve been lucky in this being the first positive case in the immediate family so any advise would be welcome!

TIA!

I think that he has to isolate but under current rules no one else has to

I am ready to be corrected. Also looks like the guidance will change imminently to whole households isolating going by the media

Thank you @santasgnome - I think it makes sense the house isolate (as they have the ability to do so) but he just want to be sure!

NS has announced here in Scotland that whole households have to isolate from tomorrow.

It makes sense but it's not currently the rule in uk right now. As far as I know anyway

Thanks @Ginger1982 - it doesn’t make sense to separate them and bring one child to ours who ‘might not’ have it just for a weekend..
I think it’s gonna be a long week for their poor mum!!

He should stay where he is but doesn't have to if it causes problems

Motheroftigers · 10/12/2021 19:45

We had dds come over when he tested positive, we are both vaccinated.

He was completely symptomless and only did a PCR test as he bobbed along with him mum - who actually tested negative!

We never caught it either! ( although I think we had it just before it all kicked off in 2020)

Motheroftigers · 10/12/2021 19:52

Dss!

JanglyBeads · 10/12/2021 20:29

@CheesyFootballsAreEvil is correct, the go to has issued guidance for separated families saying child contact is NOT listed as one of the permitted reasons to break isolation.

However if there is a court order in place this would be considered (sorry can’t remember exact wording).

And yes his sister is currently permitted to leave the house but it’s probably not a good idea and now not allowed if you’re in Scotland.
