Dd has symptoms, although I don't think it's covid as she had it around 5 months ago, I'll stil do a test, I now have cold symptoms but will do a test too. Question is can ds, who is perfectly fine and has his Xmas assembly today, can he attend school.

Yes. Kids only have to isolate if they have symptoms. Even if you test positive he can still go to school once he gets a negative test.

DeathMetalMum · 10/12/2021 07:35

Yes. The school will also probably have to mark it as an unauthorised absence if he's kept off.

kimlo · 10/12/2021 07:37

yes he can. If any of you test positive a pcr is recomended but he doesn't have to isolate.

If you have a lf in the house I would do one of those on him but you don't have to.

It's worth asking and might be worth asking school; my own school has changed the policy for staff as we have had too many outbreaks; if staff live with a positive family member they work from home.

DeathMetalMum · 10/12/2021 13:51

Our school was asking siblings of any positive cases to stay at home earlier on in the term, however they have been told they now have to mark those as unauthorised. So are no longer suggesting it, and having to say to parents it will go down as unauthorised.

It depends where you live. England, wales and Scotland all have different rules.

In Scotland and wales they'd need a negative test to go back.

From tomorrow in scotland they have to isolate for 10 days :(
