Isolation time

When you get a positive PCR test does isolation clock start from the date of positive test or from date symptoms started?

Symptoms started on 5th (have been home alone since and not out anywhere) getting pcr tomorrow but not sure if they will take day 1 as tomorrow or 5th?

It's meant to be day after the start of symptoms or day after positive result. Mine however ended up being 13 days from positive test as track and trace didn't call for 2 days and then messed up and refused accept they were wrong and change it!
As it happens I was still ill in bed on day 12 so it was really no issue, but if I was well throughout I would have been frustrated!

It’s supposed to be from date of symptoms or first test (lft for example). But DS got positive pcr today and they called and gave him isolation date 10 days from today! (Which makes it 12 days from symptoms/positive lft)

Ask yourself what would Boris do?

Pick whichever date you fancy, or deny that you have a party at all.

Test and trace seem to be unable to count. My asymptomatic DD got a positive LFT on Monday 6th, a positive PCR on Tuesday 7th and they say she has to isolate until Sunday 19th. She is supposed to be going to see a play on the 18th and in my mind she should be fine to go by then but not according to test and trace Angry

roroyoyo I messed up dd1s end of iso by a day and as it turns out no one is watching. It’s actually not 1984. Let her go to the play if she is not poorly.

Similar to us DS positive lft Monday (6th), confirmed pcr today. Test and trace called me and gave me the 17th (including that day) as the last day of isolation. That’s 12 days from monday! He’s already bored out of his mind.

I tested positive on my 7th December PCR. My symptoms started on the 5th so my end date for isolation is the 15th. I recorded the date of my symptoms starting when I booked my PCR online so that's what they worked from.

I'm bored already too.

aramox1 · 09/12/2021 22:13

I told test and trace when the first day of symptoms was and calculated 10 more days from that. No point expecting them to get it right!

GypsyWanderer · 09/12/2021 22:24

I put the date of first symptoms down too when I booked the pcr and told them in the phone when symptoms started and they still got the wrong date 😆

RoRoYoYo · 09/12/2021 22:36

@GypsyWanderer so your DS had a positive LFT the same day as my DD and had PCR confirmation a day later than DD but isolation finishes one day earlier for your DS! It makes no sense at all!

What a load of crap! It’s bad enough having to isolate for 10 days. I have to go through this again with DS13 and DD10 because I’m waiting for their pcr results but pretty sure they’ve got it as both symptomatic.

10 days from symptoms. But I believe the day symptoms start is day zero and the next day is day 1. If you have no symptoms it's from Positive test.

Dp tested positive on Sunday 5th, he is isolating up to and including the 15th (Wednesday). Allowed out on the 16th.
