Message from Council about COVID test

Has anyone had a message from their local council after a COVID test? 2 out of 4 of us have tested positive this week (waiting outcome of one more PCR test), and have just received a text saying....

This is xxxxxxxxxx Council, we need to speak to you urgently about your recent Corona Virus test. We will try to contact you today, the call will be from 0300 500 80 80.

Anyone know what this is about?!

I think it'll be the local authority support team. Got one of these when DS tested positive.

ningaj · 09/12/2021 14:22

Will be about my DS then? He tested positive yesterday

The only thing I can think of is that it is omicron. They would need to tell you so contacts also so late if that is still the rule?

hotdogsqp · 09/12/2021 14:23

They do the children side

Frazzled2207 · 09/12/2021 14:23

It could be omicron. Don’t panic, anecdotal evidence shows it could be milder. But you’d better all isolate until you’ve spoken.

bigbluebus · 09/12/2021 14:26

I assume you're in Nottinghamshire OP as that number comes up at Notts CC - so appears to be a genuine number. Ring it and you'll find out what they want!

ningaj · 09/12/2021 14:27

@Frazzled2207 We are isolating as DH tested positive on Monday, DS yesterday and I had a positive LF yesterday (awaiting PCR result)

I have a younger DS who had COVID back in later September and is currently negative who also isn't going to school because neither of us can leave the house to take him. I wondered if they were going to pull me up on that!!!

@bigbluebus didn't think about googling the number to check!!!

If anyone was going to pull you up it would be the school. Very much doubt the council would care

They will send a squad round to remove you and yours to reeducation camps. There are too many restrictions to reach Siberia, so it's Wales for you - sorry about that.

VikingOnTheFridge · 09/12/2021 14:44

With DS this was pre Omicron.

ningaj · 09/12/2021 15:00

@NearlyAlwaysInsane Quite fancy a little holiday in Wales!!!

I had a million calls from Test & Trace and then another million from the council's support team when I tested positive a few weeks ago. I said the same thing to every caller, increasingly exasperated, and then finally said 'please can you close this case, I'm ill and I will not be answering any more of these calls and repeating myself." They were apologetic and did so. Nothing necessarily to do with omicron, just staffing I think.

Our council did the test and trace bit when DS was positive. It was great, and they never called us back to check on us, unlike the horror stories some people are experiencing with T&T. So could just be contact tracing

Same here, had one twenty minute phonecall from a lovely lady at the council and that was it. Shame t&t can't take some tips from them.

Gosh this sounds so worrying doesn't it! Do update us op! Hope you're all OK

PurpleDaisies · 09/12/2021 17:23

I agree with everyone else-most likely omicron. Hopefully you’ve got it sorted by now.

ningaj · 09/12/2021 17:32

I'll be honest, between feeling like utter shit and dealing with the kids I haven't had chance to call them, and they haven't called me either. So clearly not THAT urgent!!!!
