If you had a nasty reaction to the 1st/2nd AZ jab, how did you get on with Moderna booster

Basically just that.

Had AZ in March, was ill with pretty nasty flu like symptoms, couldn't get up, shaking, temperature, in a terrible state. Had 2nd AZ and was ill again, but not as severely.

I'm about to have a booster, which will be Moderna and I'm worried!

I also had covid in October and I was again, really quite ill. Struggled to stand up, sleeping 6+ hours in the daytime, mega headache etc.

Hi I was ill after the AZ and unfortunately also the Moderna booster. Similar symptoms ie chills, nausea, headache, heavy sleep, but the Moderna made me feel a bit disorientated and drowsy as well and also had a big red angry mark on my arm for about a week (arm was very sore too)

gsaoej · 08/12/2021 23:34

Oh dear! How long did the symptoms last after the Moderna jab (the child, headache, sleep)?

I felt rough for about a week after first AZ
Second AZ sore arm only
Had Moderna booster just over a week ago - felt Ok for first 24ish hours then some random vomiting in the middle of the night felt a bit shaky for a day or so - absolutely fine the next day just a bit of a sore arm.

LittleBoxes · 09/12/2021 09:32

Rough and fluey after AZ (first dose worse than second), but not half as bad with the Moderna booster - just extreme tiredness and a very sore arm for a couple of days. Was out and about doing normal stuff, just needed a nap when I got home!

Mind you, I did have Covid five weeks before the booster, and that was much worse than any side effects.

Horsemad · 09/12/2021 09:36

I wasn't overly affected by either AZ. Had Moderna booster Tues eve & felt ok initially but was freezing cold all day yesterday and felt extremely tired and arm was sore too.
Feel better today, just a bit 'heady'.

DH went to bed at 5pm yesterday; felt like he'd been kicked all over. He had a flu type reaction to his first AZ and Moderna booster.

Horsemad · 09/12/2021 09:37

Sorry, meant DH had the Moderna booster, not a flu reaction to it

Dippydinosaurus · 09/12/2021 09:45

Felt really ill for 24 hours with first AZ. Fine with second AZ and fine with Moderna a few weeks ago

Brusca · 09/12/2021 10:58

I was mildly fluey for about 24 hours with first AZ, nothing with second, and just a (very!) sore arm with Moderna booster.

SharesinClarks · 09/12/2021 11:25

I had the Moderna booster yesterday. My arm is very sore and I barely got any sleep. I also felt really cold last night. Today I have a bit of a headache but it's not too bad.

YuleHaveAWonderfulChristmas · 09/12/2021 11:41

Felt really ill with both the AZ's and moderna booster.

Having Covid pre vacation much easier!

Clutterbugsmum · 09/12/2021 11:56

Both DH and I had the AZ vaccine and neither had any reaction other then sore arm.

DH had the Moderna Booster and was ill for 3 days with chills, very sleepy. I had the pfizer Booster and no side effects other then a sore arm.

Verite1 · 09/12/2021 12:00

Most people I know had side effects with moderna booster. Not so much Pfizer.

refusetobeasheep · 09/12/2021 12:03

My joints and muscles were painful after Moderna for about 12 hours - then it went as quickly as it came on.

I see a few people here getting the booster soon after having Covid. Here in lreland the instruction is no booster for 6 months after having Covid. If we get called we turn it down and request a call in a few months. Doctor has said to me no way to the booster as had Covid in September so wait until March. Its too much for your system to fight. Doesn't seem this way in the UK??

@Verite1

Most people I know had side effects with moderna booster. Not so much Pfizer.
I've had the opposite with the people I know. Those who have had Pfizer have been really poorly including my 81 year old mum who had no side effects at all from her first two Pfizer jabs then her Pfizer booster made her really poorly for 3 days

My first two were AZ (first AZ had me in bed for 2 days) my booster was Moderna and I felt a bit "off" for a couple of days and had a sore arm but that was all.

I honestly don't think there is any pattern to it.
