Re-infection after one month?

Hi everyone, I caught Covid last month. I’m pretty much recovered now- however I was with a friend on Saturday and she has just tested positive for Covid today…what are the chances of me having caught it from her again? She started experiencing symptoms on the Sunday.

Highly unlikely. Assuming she has delta & you had delta. If she had omicron, it seems you may be likely to get it again but it’s still unclear really.

I had covid in October & I’ve been a close contact a couple times since. One was my beautician who spent an hour all up in my face doing my eyebrows & one a friend who I sat next too at dinner one night. I didn’t catch it again ..

@Bobholll that’s reassured me a little. I’m assuming I had delta, but not sure what strain my friend has. I’ve read a few articles which say that once you catch Covid you have immunity for around 3 months. But it’s got me wondering as to whether this information counts for the omicron strain too.

I’ve also been wondering this about the omicron strain, the scientists don’t seem to have mentioned it

As far as I understand, Omicron has a higher reinfection rate because it has a number of mutations which allow it to escape antibodies somewhat. So they don't know for definite yet but I assume you could be reinfected with Omicron even though you got Delta a month ago.
