Self registered PCR test

Hello,

When I went to the NHS walk in testing site yesterday the computer system was off line. I was given a test and had to register it online myself by scanning the bar code with my phone. I never got any confirmation that I had registered the test and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this? I don’t want to not get a result back for 6 days to find that a computer system went wrong!

I wish I could answer this for you. I would be like you, and need to know that it had been registered. Otherwise such a waste of time.

Perhaps it’s treated as an NHS home PCR covid test.

Again, I have never had either done, but I do have a question for you, do they alert your close contact list of people, or just assume that you will be sensible and stay away till you get the results?

My daughters friend is waiting her results, and she has told close friends that she had contact details of, but didn’t have everyone’s details to inform them.

She did an NHS at home PCR and listed she was in close contact with someone as the reason for her test. She also has no idea how long it will take, she posted it off 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m no sure they have contacted my close contact list. They haven’t asked for one so I don’t know.

When I did a Home PCR test, when registering it online I did not get a confirmation. So maybe it is the same as that.

Losingthewill8 · 08/12/2021 16:09

Nannynick, did they alert your contacts or did you have to give them a list of people you had contact with?

I don't have the same experience as you but I've had to register my sons postal tests this week (close contact) and I never got a confirmation after registering it. Not sure if it's the same thing or not.

I just got a negative result! Woohoo!

So no confirmation but then I got the result email straight through.

I was negative, so how would they know about my contacts? It would only be if positive that T&T would do contact tracing.

Good to hear that you have got your result email and that it is negative.

Losingthewill8 · 08/12/2021 20:43

Nannynick, they wouldn’t. I worded it wrong, sorry

@Losingthewill8

Nannynick, did they alert your contacts or did you have to give them a list of people you had contact with?
If you test positive you get sent a link to a form to fill in regarding close contacts and places you have been. I believe this is sometimes followed up by phone but no one has called me.

Until you test positive no one is interested in your contacts as the % positive rate is still less than 5% so it's a waste of time and resources.
