Booster side effects - how long

If you had side effects after your booster how long did they take to appear? I had mine yesterday evening and feel bit tired and not quite a hundred percent but I’m wondering at what point I’m out of the woods re more significant side effects?

I had mine at 3.30 on Saturday, felt a bit nauseous for a couple of hours on Saturday evening & perfectly fine Saturday night onwards

Finfintytint · 08/12/2021 11:46

I felt fine on the day of the booster but felt awful during the night and into the next day. I felt extremely fatigued, sweaty with aches and pains. Felt absolutely fine again the following day.

TenoringBehind · 08/12/2021 13:26

I was fine afterwards then felt awful the next day (18 hours later) and continued to feel awful until about 48 hours post vaccine, then right as rain again. Pfizer.

User378436 · 08/12/2021 21:11

I had mine at 10 this morning and just started feeling a bit shivery, determined to watch I'm a celebrity though, then going bed

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 08/12/2021 21:26

I had mine at 10am. Felt a bit wobbly and lightheaded on the way out of the vacc centre, then started feeling covid-y around 4pm. Felt like that until I went to bed on Sunday night. So, 36 hours?

Woke up Monday at 6am and went to the gym absolutely fine.

I had covid a month ago, the day of post booster symptoms, was exactly the same as my covid experience. It was a lovely relief to have immediate recovery on Monday. Compared to the long winded getting over of actual covid.

Partner has just booked his for Thursday - we haven't got plans for Friday, but lots of plans for Sunday. He's hoping he'll be fine by then.

nannybeach · 08/12/2021 21:31

Had mine last Friday 11.20 30 minutes later headache, ringing in both ears, arm hurt. Lasted 30 minutes then felt great. Woke up the following morning feeling a bit rough, nothing specific.spent most of the day on the sofa, following day not 100% but better.next day, back to normal,I had moderna. DH who had hardly anything with previous 2,had phizer, was on the sofa 2 days not even dressed and really bad headache.my cousin sore arm 6 hours then nothing

Northernsoullover · 08/12/2021 21:34

Anecdotally the Moderna folk seem to feel rough for 24 - 36 hours. I had pfizer and barely a sore arm..my sister had moderna and wrote an entire day off. Absolutely fine the next day though.

User378436 · 08/12/2021 21:36

I keep shaking a bit, actually shaking, ok apart from that, slight ringing in ears but I get a bit of that anyway heartbeat is quite high

User378436 · 08/12/2021 21:36

Oh, I had Moderna

TheOriginalNutty · 08/12/2021 21:37

I had mine around 10:30 am yesterday. Felt fine until 4am this morning when I woke and was absolutely freezing cold and felt sick.

Have been sick once today and slept on and off all day. Have been freezing all day too.

I'm really hoping I feel better in the morning as work weren't impressed I was off even though I pre warned them that I always react badly to it.

TheOriginalNutty · 08/12/2021 21:37

Oh mine was Pfizer

IndigoApple · 08/12/2021 21:53

I had Moderna at 7pm yesterday. Fine until this evening, now feeling cold and shivery. I’ve taken paracetamol, chocolate and gin and hoping to be fine in the morning! Arm is a little tender as well.

simbobs · 08/12/2021 22:05

I had Moderna booster at 4pm and felt fine. By bed time I had a bit of tenderness at the injection site. The following day I felt a bit hung over, and my arm still felt a bit tender, but the next day I felt 100% fine with no soreness at all. I had no side effects at all after my AZ vaccines.

HarleyQuinnFan · 08/12/2021 22:05

Had Pfizer booster yesterday at 5.40pm. Woke up this morning with a sore arm. Still sore now where was injected.

But no other symptoms. But I didn’t feel poorly from the first two either so maybe I’m just lucky.

Some friends had horrid side effects after the first and second. Some won’t even get the booster as they are afraid of being so ill again.

witsendeverytime · 08/12/2021 22:13

My arm was definitely more sore than the other couple jabs but it passed after 48 hours or so. I was exhausted for 36 hours with first jab, nothing with second and just this sore arm with third. I had AZ first two and Moderna booster

Rainbowsandstorms · 08/12/2021 22:24

Thank you for all your replies. I hope everyone who has had them recently feels better soon. I had mine at 6pm yesterday, Pfizer after AZ and have felt a bit wiped out today and not quite right but so far so good, long may it continue. Happy to have had my booster.

LIZS · 08/12/2021 22:24

Booster gave me a much more sore arm, than original AZ doses. Could not sleep on that side first night and was uncomfortable for a few days. Less flu symptoms with booster than originally.

Lillyofthe · 08/12/2021 22:27

Had the AZ first jab didn't have any side effects, second jab felt tired.
Had moderna as a booster last Monday. I was extremely rough for 7 days! Felt like nasty flu, kept doing lateral flow tests to check I didn't actually have covid.
Still have a bit of a headache

Gladioli23 · 08/12/2021 22:27

I had mine about 4pm, was fine overnight. Felt rough the next day - temperature, shaking etc, and had a massive lump under my armpit which hurt like hell. The temp subsided by 48 hours after the vaccine and the weird lump by about 4 days.

BigWoollyJumpers · 08/12/2021 22:43

Boosted on Monday with Pfizer. Hellish headache and really bad stabbing pains on Tuesday, needed paracetamol. Now got underarm and side boob pain. Weird. I didn't have any symptoms after either of my AZ's.

Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 08/12/2021 22:48

Oh god it's awful isn't it. I mean Yes it good yadda yadda but I was hoping to get the tree and decorations up this weekend and I'm being boosted hopefully on Friday!. Dreading this now!. I felt hung over and ill after AZ.
I think it's going to be moderna

Tealightsandd · 08/12/2021 23:12

I had the fluey feeling for a few days after my first dose.

With the booster, I felt very tired the day after - but it was just before my period and I always get tired beforehand. Slight ache overnight in the arm but nothing really. DP felt a bit rough for a day but fine after that.

We both had AZ for our first two and Pfizer booster.

kirkandpetal · 08/12/2021 23:18

I had AZ for jab 1&2
12 hours after jab 1, felt like I had been hit by a truck. Felt hideous for about 12 hours like the worst hangover and flu combined. Then fine! Sore arm too at injection site

Jab 2 - nothing. No sore arm, nowt.

Booster - had Moderna today at 9am. Arm really very sore and feeling achy all over. Just not right but nothing like jab 1. Am hoping a good nights sleep will come and I'll wake up all good and fine tom.

Glad I had it though, for sure.

tapeandglue · 08/12/2021 23:23

I feel like a wreck.

Like @Gladioli23 and @BigWoollyJumpers, I've got pain in my armpit (the same arm where I had the jab). I didn't expect that one.

I wish I had time to take time off work sick. It's been awful working through this.

Still glad I had it done though, and I'd do it again.

tapeandglue · 08/12/2021 23:26

"An uncommon side effect is swollen glands in the armpit or neck on the same side as the arm where you had the vaccine. This can last for around 10 days, but if it lasts longer see your doctor. If you are due for a mammogram in the few weeks after the vaccine, then you should mention that when you attend."

Ah. Apparently the sore armpit is a thing.
