Not able to book booster

Has anyone had issues trying to book their booster through the online system? I'm 41 and it's been more than 5 months since my second jab, so I thought I was eligible to book now, but it's still saying I'm not eligible?

FreeBritnee · 04/12/2021 21:15

Apparently from Monday.

EmpressCixi · 04/12/2021 21:16

I am too. Late 40s, can’t book online and 119 said the news saying only 3mos from 2nd shot has not yet gone live, so they couldn’t book me either.

SonnetForSpring · 04/12/2021 21:16

It's so slow. They really need to get a move on if they want to protect us from omicron

Wigeon · 04/12/2021 21:20

Hm, you definitely should be able to book. Has it been 152 days since your second jab?

PurpleDaisies · 04/12/2021 21:20

I think people are missing that you should be eligible to book under the existing criteria, not the new one.
I’m not eligible yet by my friend has just booked hers for six months after the second at five months and two days.

Wigeon · 04/12/2021 21:22

But the OP IS eligible under the existing criteria - over 40s can book from five months, and the actual appointments offered will be after six months.

HamCob · 04/12/2021 21:26

I'm 40 and had my 2nd jab at the start of June.
Had no problems booking my booster.
Can you just walk in? They seem to be fairly relaxed at the centres here

IceandIndigo · 04/12/2021 21:37

Yes it has been more than 152 days. I thought I should at least be able to access the appointments, even if it won't offer me anything until 6 months has passed.

I just called 119 and they weren't very helpful, just said I should try again in a few weeks. Kept talking about the system not having been updated for the latest guidance, even though I should have been eligible under the previous guidance.

Perhaps I will try a walk-in. I was hoping I might be able to get it done before Christmas.

Try a drop in centre, they should do it. We do where I work.

Tickly · 04/12/2021 22:04

41 here. I found I could book but not until 6 months (ie under the old rules) but I walked in last week no problem after 5 months. I'd recommend walking in at wherever does them near you.

tootyfruitypickle · 04/12/2021 22:09

Will the system change to 3 months on Monday for definite? My elderly df had his jabs late but I'd like him to have his booster asap but he's only 3 months on now

FreeBritnee · 04/12/2021 22:38

I was told the system will accept the OPs criteria from Monday.

I’m just over 5 months since my second jab and I tried just showing up at 2 local centres and was turned away. I have been able to book under the old timeframe, but not until 3rd January and I’d like to bring it forward. The places I tried weren’t actually walk in centres though, but I don’t think that will make any difference until they update the systems to reflect that we’re supposed to be eligible from 3 months. You could try, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Maybe next week things could change though.

I really don’t understand why you can’t book for 6 months after your 2nd jab; you are definitely eligible to do that. Have you tried more than once? Just wondering if it could be as simple as putting some incorrect details in.

Whenever it changes, I think the idea is that people will be done in order according to when they had their 2nd jab. So your df may still have to wait a bit. Hope he gets it soon though. (But I also hope I get it soon! I hit the 6 month mark on 27th December)
BogRollBOGOF · 04/12/2021 22:47

I've booked tonight for this week on the day it's 6 months since jab 2. Age 40. My area was ahead on giving out the jabs in the first place so probably have established boosters accordingly.
I was concerned with the change coming that I'd suddenly struggle as all the younger age groups suddenly became eligible at the same point that mine became due under the previous criteria.

eastegg · 04/12/2021 22:50

Another thought OP; are you anywhere near a hospital with a vaccination centre? DH says a colleague has had a booster at St Thomas’s (London) even though he is in his 20s and not even close to 6 months post 2nd jab.

Shoemadlady · 04/12/2021 23:03

Do what it says only and call 119 or your GP, simple x

Userevermore · 05/12/2021 06:14

If you are over 40 and at least 6 months you can go to a walk-in. Many walk-ins not doing under 6 months, website may not be updated until the 13th reported on BBC and Daily Mail

RunAwayNow · 05/12/2021 10:57

Is it just that there are no appointments available op? I think a lot have jumped and booked at 5 months since the second jab, so fewer slots left on the system.

Round here no walk ins will jab you until 6 months past your last one, but my friend who works in a vaccination centre is expecting that to change this week for the 40+ group.

It's a bit rich that the government keeps on banging on about people getting them before Christmas when the vast majority won't be able to because the systems haven't been updated yet. Seems a convenient way to blame the public and NHS if omicron takes off

user1506328491 · 05/12/2021 11:05

Has anyone read any speculation on when it will open to under 30s? End of Jan seems a stretch the longer these appointments aren't bookable. Are there any stats published for how many 40-50s have been done?

user1506328491 · 05/12/2021 11:07

Sorry under 40s!!! The next agenda down I mean after the current group so late 30s

It has been reported that website will be open to under 40s by 13th December
Rainbowsandstorms · 05/12/2021 11:12

@GoodnightGrandma what is the approach at your centre re people under 40 vaccinated with AZ and at the 5.5 month mark? I’m worried that I won’t be able to get my booster even at the six month mark if it’s still over 40s. I don’t meet any of the current eligibility criteria.

IceandIndigo · 06/12/2021 21:48

I still can’t book. It’s not that there are no appointments, it says I’m not eligible to book. The walk in centre near me says it’s not accepting walk ins for boosters, you have to make an appointment. And then it just directs people back to the NHS booking site. Bit fed up really, 119 were laughably unhelpful.
