Dry/scratchy throat.

Could it be covid? I've actually been suffering from a dry throat on and off for a couple months. Seems common for me as we go into the winter, could also be reflux which I suffer with. Have suffered in previous years too.

But this week it's been particularly worse. Very dry, coarse and scratchy. Occasional cough. Nothing persistent or continuous. Just maybe one or two coughs in the morning. Fine otherwise.

But my anxiety is telling me what if this is covid. It's just a coincidence it's causing me similar symptoms, just a little worse than what I get normally. My throat feels so horrid.

But could covid just be a scratchy/dry throat with other symptoms? Been like it all week. Hasn't got worse or better tbh.

Best take a lft and take it from there ?

It's reported as an omicron symptom. Definitely do an LFT. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I've got covid at the moment and that's how mine started.

How long did it last and how did it progress? Throats been really scratchy for about 4-5 days. Haven't pcr tested as dry throat is so so common for me so just thought it was my normal thing! Have had 2 negative lfts.

If you log with Zoe, or join now and log those symptoms, they will likely tell you to get a PCR.

Thing is if I was to get a pcr every time I get a dry scratchy throat id be down the test centre 4/5 times a week! Everything affects my throat. It's just a little worse than usual this week 🤯

I had the scratchy throat maybe a couple of days before developing a snotty nose. Just thought I had a slight cold. I tested positive on a routine LFT on Wednesday (confirmed by PCR the next day). Since Thursday evening I've had an intermittent temperature (up to about 38.2C) but no cough yet.

Dry scratchy throat is how mine started one evening but by the next day the head cold and aches began. You might be fine but best to do a LFT or PCR. I didn't get a positive LFT until two days in.

Thanks you! Both dc have had coughs and negative pcr tests in the last week or so which were negative so could be what they had/have. Mine has been scratchy for a few days so thankfully hasn't progressed other than being annoying. I'll lft again later and pcr tomorrow if no better. Not planning to go anywhere today anyway, I'm still in pjs. Dp has been close contact this week and tested last night and results negative today - negative - he's also got a scratchy throat too! Never ending 🤯🤯

But we’re not saying to test every time you have a scratchy throat. We are saying that as it is worse this week go and have a PCR. Ge5 it done today and you’ll have your answer tomorrow hopefully
