Counting isolation days

DS started to have symptoms on Tuesday and went for a PCR on Wednesday, got the result on Thursday and was told to isolate till the following Monday. But that would be 13 days from the onset of symptoms. The NHS is obviously counting it from the day of the positive result not from the onset of symptoms.

Today is 11 days from the onset of symptoms - he isn’t planning to go out until Monday but do you think it’s safe for family members to come into our home? Long story but I struggle to cope with DS on my own and these ten days have been a nightmare, I would really like my mum to come and look after him for a few hours if it’s safe.

Could you take DS to your mum’s instead of her coming to you? Just in case someone happened to check up on your household they would go by the nhs date.

I've had something similar in that for some reason track and trace gave me a date based on when my son's symptoms started, which was a day after his positive PCR 🤔 which means he officially has a day extra than he needs to have. I would check with your DM as to whether she's happy to come or not.

She’s happy to come if we decide it’s safe. But we can’t decide. It’s 11 days since the onset of symptoms but only 9 days since the positive PCR. I’m at breaking point coping with DS on my own.
