Contact tracing - omricon?

I’m wondering if anyone can help. I’ve just tested positive and have had a text from contact tracing with the following (I’ve taken out my personal details). Is this a standard message or do they think I have Omicron? If they think you have Omicron, would they contact you to tell you? I thought track and trace wasn’t a thing any more for contacts so it’s caught me by surprise but I may be completely wrong. Any advise would be appreciated.

You recently tested positive for COVID-19 and must now stay at home and self-isolate for at least 10 days from when your symptoms started (or from when your test was taken if you have not had symptoms).

We now need your help to get in touch with people you have been in contact with whilst you were potentially infectious, as we must provide them with important health advice and support.

Please visit your account….. to provide this information and learn more. By doing this quickly, you will be helping to protect yourself, your family, and the NHS.

The information you give us will be held in complete confidence. If you're unsure, please search online for "NHS Test and Trace".

Nope thats the normal test and trace text

They’d specifically tell you you were suspected of omicron if you were

Ah okay, thanks. Do I actually have to provide everyone’s contact details? I’m a teacher… there are hundreds.

They won't know right now if it's omicron as that needs further analysis of the test. Probably the standard Test and Trace message

RoseAndRose · 04/12/2021 07:57

That sounds pretty normal to me. It means your unvaccinated contacts must isolate, U18s and the fully vaccinated will be advised to test in a couple of days time.

Shrimpseyelashes · 04/12/2021 08:06

That’s normal- Test and Trace still inform your close contacts who then have to go through a process online to say whether they’ve been vaccinated or not etc. They will then get told if they are required to isolate or not and also to get a PCR.

Yeah that's normal. My son has had it the past week and when I spoke to test and trace I just gave the information I could. My son had been to school, gymnastics, karate and an evening kids club in the week prior and all I could provide was the name of the clubs, couldn't tell them any individuals he'd come into contact with.

Ask your school head or person in charge of covid response what to do about contacts. But basically they won’t do anything with any under 18s details you give them - or didn’t in my case anyway (am associate staff so there were only a few for me) two months ago.

Thank you everyone.

It’s a joke. 40% of my class tested positive. I asked at what point they would close the class and move them to online learning to stop the spread. The school didn’t want to and said Public health didn’t see the need also and said we don’t have bubbles any more and we needed to continue coming in. Now multiple more members of staff have tested positive and who knows about the hundreds of other pupils I have come into contact with over the week from other year groups. I’m so annoyed. For me, that is negligence.

I’m also a teacher and am awaiting my positive PCR result any minute! Solidarity
