Steps Concert - 22nd Nov

I went to the Steps concert on the 22 Nov in Glasgow and have found out that there are Omicron cases linked to it. I have taken 2 LFT's this week; one on Wednesday and one this afternoon - both negative. If I had contracted it, (a) when do you think I would show symptoms and (b) would one of the LFT's be positive? Also, if you were me, would you go out this weekend as planned? My DH tells me I was selfish going to the concert but how could be when I didn't know about the new variant.

"All contacts of suspected Omicron cases must self-isolate, regardless of their age or vaccination status. They will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace."

Presumably, legally, you would be contacted if you are formally fobliged to self isolate?

Your dh is talking bollocks. And if you haven't tested positive by now after ten days, I doubt you're going to. You could book a pcr for tomorrow but there's little point now.

It's been over 10 days, you have tested and not had symptoms, I doubt you have it, those concerts are huge, they could have been the opposite end to you, the whole concert won't be infected

Whilst I suspect the rules may be the same, the Steps concert was in Glasgow so it's not Test and Trace who would contact.

Wouldn't your isolation be over anyway even if you were contacted because you were at the concert

They may have been cases linked to the Steps concert, but the cases could all have been from a group of people working at a drinks stand or on the doors or on backstage lighting. It doesn't necessarily mean they were all random people in the arena. The cases could all be linked because it's their work place and they were in close contact because of that. They just happened to be working at a Steps concert.

It’s appearing that the incubation period for Omicron might be shorter ie just a couple of days, so that should encourage you!

Although LFTs can pick up omicron, they don’t in general pick up low viral loads - some have had positive PCRs and never had a pos LFT through the ten days and before.
