FFS I’ve got suspected omicron

Although nobody has actually told me personally - I only know because my contacts (including DH and DC) have been contacted by T&T and told.

Took test on Tuesday, positive result on Wednesday, T&T follow up today.

I have ruined a lot of people’s plans Sad

No they don't. Only if the contact is positive for Omicron

Dear god OP, you can have a jolly. I’ve been to two Christmas parties this week alone. And I’ll be heading to a few dinners next week, I’ve got two kids birthday parties coming up with 30 kids plus grown ups & a neighbours Christmas gathering on Sunday! I’m not apologising to anyone. I’m bloody well enjoying Christmas!

Now of your doubled jabbed no need isolate until you get symptoms. But with omicron back to the bad old days where even having a contact is lockdown and isolate. Because we don’t know if there is any more to worry about or how well double jabbed work

What’s the new rules for only omicron?
That if you've been in contact with someone with Omicron you have to isolate, even if double jabbed.

That if you've been in contact with someone with a less viral variant, you don't have to isolate if double jabbed.

It is a bit weird that I wasn’t told at the time, but the T&T phone calls have not been coming in a logical order so I might yet be told. Or maybe they’ve identified a particular Avanti train as an omicron superspreader location Hmm

They can tell if it's omicron in some labs because of a slightly ght difference in the PCR but not all labs do this at the moment (it's the same way they spotted good old alpha). I think they are trying to beef up all the labs to spot them. Otherwise they have to be sequenced.
I wonder if they are just telling people it's suspected omicron just to be on the safe side. We all know that test & trace can be a bit gung ho.

Or I had the s gene drop out or whatever it is, so I haven’t been properly ‘sequenced’ but they suspect it? Apparently the PCR tests coming to the house are able to pick it up.

Not your fault at all, please don't feel guilty or downhearted, it's just one of those things!

All you can do is focus on feeling better and looking after yourself.

May I ask whereabouts in the North West you are?

Again, trains are open for use so whether you were going for a funeral or a weekend away again, it's nothing to feel guilty about.

It's a bit disturbing that anyone feels they have to explain or justify why they are doing anything or going anywhere.

The new Covid is no more interesting than the old one.

She means her DH has been told to isolate for 10 days which means the op has omnicom variant

She means that T&T didnt tell HER that it's omicron.

However, her DH and dd have been tod to self isolate which would only happewn if it's omicron. Ergo it is.

How do you know that you are the person that other people have been told about by T&T? Presumably they don't give names, but just tell people that they have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for O. It might have been someone else with the same friends/colleagues/whatever

Have T&T told your contacts it’s omicron? As all contacts usually get contacted you then have to go online and input your vaccination status if double jabbed you get a new text saying you no longer need to isolate if it’s not the old varient. So just because your contacts have been contacted doesn’t mean it’s the omicron

I sort of preemptively justified myself because I just knew there’d be one person saying I should have stayed at home and right now I have high levels of snot and low levels of patience
