FFS I’ve got suspected omicron

Although nobody has actually told me personally - I only know because my contacts (including DH and DC) have been contacted by T&T and told.

Took test on Tuesday, positive result on Wednesday, T&T follow up today.

I have ruined a lot of people’s plans Sad

If I was in charge I would close the schools a week early on the 11th and ask everyone to WFH where possible from that day too.

That would seem to me to give the best chance of allowing Christmas to go ahead for most people and reduce the Xmas period strain on the NHS and hopefully provide a firebreak to reduce strain into the New Year and then we could re-assess following that natural circuit break.

I imagine they will dither and delay and then cancel Christmas last minute and leave the NHS desperate (more desperate) and loads of NHS workers who were due to be off being drafted in. ;(

They are giving out the new lateral home test s here and the children are sent home with a pack in primary schools , it is a nasal swab only now .

Because of you have been contact of the new strain it’s isolate for 10 days. For most people that’s huge inconvenience. Hopefully soon they have medically evidence that it’s no different but has possibility serious mess up Xmas many people

Please don’t feel bad! Covid is everywhere- I’ve spent the last 4 weekends getting PCR’d due to being a close contact.( I work in a school)

Don't beat yourself up about this. You are doing your best in frustrating circumstances. Every time we see a bit of light in this nightmare and try a bit of normal life something happens.
Stay safe and look after yourself. Lots of fluids, vitamins c & d

You get a phone call if you have variant B.1.1.529 also coded omicron, if you haven't had a call you don't have it.

Yep! There are So many variables about who has to isolate, who doesn’t have to isolate. Who should get a test, who shouldn’t get a test. What symptoms Should qualify you for a test versus the symptoms the government think Should qualify you for a test. It doesn’t help that the rules are different depending which bit of the UK you are in. The whole thing is a big mess. Add in that the government don’t follow their own rules, it’s no wonder some of the British public have given up trying to Follow the rules to comply Or completely given up even reading them to try to understand them.

So far omicron isn't causing the lack of taste and smell that the other variants have.

Not sure what dead leg and folded toe has to do with anything thats just slept in rubbish position surely. Or is toe dropping off a new thing?

Is that for certain? Maybe this is another variant I don't know? Definitely not feeling myself, had cov19 twice before and this is not the same.
